A faceoff in OT is absolutely critical. Much more so than in regulation. Getting possession to start can be the difference between winning and losing the game.

If Johnny keeps this up 3 on 3 he is going break some records. Has anyone else scored as many as points, goals on 3 on 3? Looked but seem to find any 3 on 3 stats.

With how rare 3 on 3 is, I'd be willing to bet that he already has the record.

Before the new OT format this year, you'd probably see one Flames game every 3-4 years hit 3 on 3, and that would only be for a matter of seconds before one of the penalties expired.

Opposing team's fans are pretty salty...

from an Oil fan on Twitter,

"must be something with horse shoes in Calgary, the flames have one up their a##" that is literally the pot calling the kettle black.

Also, the Around the League but especially the most recent PGT thread on HfOil is full of salt and it's pretty good. Also full of horse shoe comments, rich!

Love Dougie ruining the Boston narrative as well!

Oh and forgot this one -

"#Flames got lucky tonight. Backup goalie, multiple power plays and break aways. Jonny Cokcey @NHLFlames"

The spelling tho.

Might be to avoid the swear filter, or maybe just bad spelling

Notes from the game last night: was sitting in front of two annoying Bruins fans who scurried out real quick at the end. Just glorious.

Also, I am out my favourite hat and i have a wicked hangover.

I regret nothing.

so we should call this a Johnny Gaudreau hat trick, 3g, 1a, and a penalty (he aint gonna fight) the key is OT 3rd goal.

I am p###ed at myself....as soon as Boston went up 4-3 I turned the TV off and cursed out the Flames. Checked the highlights this morning to learn of the true outcome of the game.

Wonder when Hartley will give Bennett a shot in OT, I think he could do some magic 3 on 3 as well, triple threat with Moneyhands

Yeah, I had to leave for work and I was just shutting things down as the Marchand penalty shot occured. Though it was good timing to walk out the door and to not be late.

So mad I missed the last second heroics. Two games in a row for the comeback kids. Man, if they're just hitting their stride now, holy cow do they have a solid shot at making the playoffs. And to do it against two teams who are legit playoff contenders in a row is something else.

Gaudreau is made of superstar stuff, the diminutive forward play so much bigger than he looks. Just amazing.

Bennett-Granlund-Frolik is my favorite line this year. I just love watching them every single shift.

I'm wondering the same thing. But there's no need to adjust since we've been doing so well in 3 on 3. I think if Sam was better at faceoffs, maybe he'd have a shot in place of Backlund/Stajan

I disagree there slightly. I get that face-offs are important, but I can't imagine many teams have started 3-on-3 OT, won the face off and scored without giving up possession.

Besides, we could switch it up and start a centre alongside Gaudreau to take the face off. We don't have to start 2 D and 1 forward.

Sure. We're 6-1 in OT. Let's change things...

All meant in good fun, but those are some serious nits you're picking...
