Despite the political/cultural and nostalgic significance, did anyone find the Beyonce and Bowie records listenable? Seems to me these albums were esteemed for reasons other than sounding good.
Yeah, this might sound evil but Bowie's album is completely forgettable and wouldn't even be on anyone's radar had he not died. Didn't bother listening to Beyonce's album, not my thing.
A massive new interactive infographic could be just the tool you need to help you out.
Rob Mitchum has created an ever-growing infographic that brings together a wide range of best-of lists. He explains that the project "started as a good way to catch albums I missed over the past year, and to have all the lists in one place for easy browsing."
The lists included in the graphic were compiled according to a few simple criteria. Each list had to be voted on by staff (not a single writer), cover multiple genres, include at least 50 albums (though only the Top 50 are included in Mitchum's data) and come form a website or magazine Mitchum deemed legitimate.
The data was then arranged so as to allow users to browse an extensive list of albums (located in the far right column); when you hover over a specific album, its position on each specific list appears.
Luder, they messed up the Deviations digital release, which was supposed to be today, and released Not The Actual Events a day early as a trade off but only for people who bought a physical copy off nin.com.
If you bought either the vinyl version or the mystery box version you should have received your download link already. But it should be up on itunes, or your preferred service, tomorrow.
It is short but heavy. I really like it.

I was wondering where my Fragile was lol, thanks for the heads up.
Interesting list here if your taste is geared more towards indie rock. The list omits Bob Mould, ATCQ, Japandroids, School of Seven Bells, etc. but hard to argue with the top 10 songs on the list.

This year, over 500 Pazz + Jop voters submitted their top ten albums and singles. With albums, they have 100 points to divide among their top ten picks, with each entry receiving no more than 30 points or less than five. There's no point-ranking system for the singles category, which remains amorphous, comprising individual songs, remixes, downloads, viral sensations, etc. Literal release dates aren't binding, but a record or single's "impact" should have occurred primarily in 2016; in most cases, if it got votes in 2015 and 2016, we combined the two totals. It's not as complicated as it sounds. Thanks especially to all voters, commenters, and essayists.
