Upshall's contract pays him $200k if he is in the AHL.

Even a 2-way deal at 700K is better than no deal at all.

I watched Upshall last year in Florida and he was still a buzzsaw on the ice. Upshall's not very good, and at the very least Glencross has a better shot than him, but in terms of speed, effort, physical play, and tenacity, Upshall is better than Glencross in every category.
At this rate, Glencross would be lucky to get the league minimum.

Based on his past comments, and somewhat sulky reputation, I wouldn't be too surprised if that's exactly what happened. Rightly or wrongly, the guy has always thought he deserved more money, more ice time, more respect...settling for a minor role for a million bucks (or less) is a pretty big hit to the ego.
People turn down money/positions based on pride all the time. I'm sure there are plenty of O&G people out there these days who are balking at salaries that are half of what got a couple of years ago, even if it's the only option on the table.

Wow. I have a hard time believing people actually think like this. Some of you have such a hate on for Glencross it's crazy

he wasn't too proud to accept PTO's so I highly doubt he is turning down contract offers

I was thinking I'd rather have Glencross than Raymond but Raymond just got waived, so that's a pretty shaky theory.

Doubt very much that he would be 'too proud to accept a league minimum contract'.
However, I can imagine that he might be unwilling to go to the A. I could see him holding out for NHL or nothing.

Hate on? Nice try. Believe it or not, but people in all walks of life make financial decisions based on pride. If someone offered you a job at less than half your current salary, would you take it? I know I'd have a hard time swallowing that type of demotion.
Nobody is saying that this is exactly what happened, but if we are speculating, it's not out of the realm of possibility. It happens all the time.

I'm sure he could get an offer somewhere, the question is, does he want to go just anywhere? My guess would be not. When you've got a family, you're not the only one making the decision to sign a contract in Miami. Nevermind a two-way contract, potentially bouncing around between the show and the farm. A lot of factors are going into his decision making, and while Glencross hasn't been a good fit for the two teams we know about, I'm sure there's been a handful of teams that Glencross has turned away.

I agree with your sentiment, but to be honest, I'm not sure that's actually the case in this situation at the moment, at least not recently. I'd be surprised if Glencross has an NHL option on the table that he's rejected at this point.

And no one is saying that he has, its just conjecture based on extrapolation.
Option 1: He may not have gotten any offers.
- Seems strange as hes still talented, healthy and an NHL player but plausible.
Option 2: He's turned down offers he didnt like for whatever reasons.
- He has a history of over-valuing his contributions and valuing his family, ranch and his proximity to them. Equally plausible.

I suspect Locke is correct - The date of his release from the PTO with the Avs makes me think they made an offer but he simply couldn't come to terms with them. Glencross is obviously good enough to play a role on a few teams if he was willing to take any contract.
I think either he or his agent or both really has misunderstood the market over the last two years.

Glencross doesn't even have a job right now so not sure what you're getting at with that analogy. Besides, you can't compare the NHL to a regular career, they ware way too different
Way too many posters seem to want to hate on this guy for his supposed attitude whenever most of you have never even met the guy.

Wasn't the date of his release very similar to Wilson in Calgary though?

Similar. But the messages out of the Avs camp was pretty different. Talk of playing with Iggy, etc.
Wilson was always in a battle.

I haven't been paying much attention this off-season, but I do know that the Avalanche have looked terrible on offense so far. Obviously preseason doesn't mean a whole lot, but it is a little strange that Glencross was straight-up released from two teams that I feel could use all the help they can get.
I hope he lands somewhere eventually.

They couldn't score in the preseason either then it bled into the season. Iggy caught fire later but it was too late. Could be looking at a repeat
