Same reason why people will line up to watch the new Star Wars or the Harry Potter books back in the day.

but that is different. Only a certain amount of seats for movies and they did not have stock to meet demand for books.

It's because they want to play the game as soon as possible.

I lined up once for Modern Warfare 3 because I didn't pre-order and I wanted the hardened edition. I got the last copy.
One time was enough for me.

This is my solution to this release-day rush issue:

Ghouls can #### RIGHT off now.
What an AI improvement over Ghouls and Draugs from previous games.

Yea, they're spending $50+ for a sticker. That's the stupid part.

Do you have a similar view of baseball or hockey cards?

Hockey cards at least retain their value. Do you think this bottle of soda will still be worth $50+ in two weeks when the hype dies down, or when they get more in stock?

I have no idea; it may end up being worth a ton if there aren't any left and the franchise continues to be popular. Many people don't invest in these things because of their inherent value, like stocks. Some people just like collectibles. A baseball card is just a piece of paper with some ink on it, not unlike a sticker.
I don't collect either, but you're going to have to take a pretty broadly disdainful view of a lot peoples' hobbies to be consistent.

About 2 hours in. Have power armor and some cool weapons so far.
I told my dog to stay and now he's fked off though. Does he come back? He's vanished. Nothing said he was attacked or slain. Maybe he comes back after I take a nap?

You're two hours into the game and already have power armor? Great pacing there. Facepalm...
Bethesda gonna Bethesda I guess.
