It is what it is. Us the flames fans we where riding a huge high and it all hit low point these last two days.
Connor doesn't guarantee anything. Mctavish sat on hnic and said that defence wins and today it's the opposite, the incompetence will continue.
Last I checked it took a team of 23 and more to even make the playoffs let alone win a championship.
I'm still very happy with what we have in Calgary. We are building a sustainable team, and should be just fine.

So is McDavid expected to score 50 out the gate? That team up north is so lacking at every postion except some offense positions, is it going to matter?
If Crosby played on the Oilers, where would they have landed this year... 11th?
Most importantly this saves Lowe for 5 more years. The mastermind of their mess and most key roadblock to success.
Worst outcome from today would have been them drafting 5th, Katz firing lowe and Mactavish, and hiring someone competent.
This will be about as good as ATL in the Heatley and Kovi primes.

Have you seen the rest of that team? Its hot garbage. McDavid is a drop in the bucket.

Yeah, some people are making into a bigger deal than it is.
If god forbid they ever win another Cup, it won't be because they drafted McDavid. It will be because their management finally figures out how to build a winning team and they can attract and retain other talent. And the chances of that happening are a lot worse than 11% or whatever it was for them to win the lottery.
McDavid won't have a Gretzky or Lemieux impact and likely won't even reach Crosby's level. He will also likely play out his RFA years and then bolt when he is 25 anyway. I'm just hoping it's just enough to keep them from drafting top 5 again for a while.
