To be fair, of the starters that have any sort of big league experience, they are all well below career norms. You have to assume there's going to be some sort of regression to the mean over the course of the season, but the inability to get lengthy (or even acceptable) amounts of innings out of the starters is very troubling.

Well we have Dickey vs Whitley tonight at the Skydome. I think the Jays make some hay during this home stand.

At the game tonight. Would be sweet if someone could let me know if they see a 23yo wearing a blue shirt and Flames hat on the broadcast.
Thanks.

Jays hitting coach Jacoby suspended for 14 games. Apparently the umps suck and he told them so.

Fantastic pitching performance for Dickey tonight (finally - a Jays starter makes it past the 6th inning) and some timely hitting in the bottom of the 8th led to a win over the stupid Yankees. Would love for the Jays to continue owning them this year.

That seems pretty stiff. Do we know what he said?

Although details are sketchy, it is clear that a loud, profane shouting match occurred after the game between Jays coaches, including Jacoby, and the umpiring crew in the tunnel leading from the visitors’ dugout to the clubhouse. Umpires have long used that tunnel to access their own dressing room, with visiting players following them up the tunnel. Security personnel typically stay between the players and coaches and the umpiring crew.
Quote:
Sources say someone from the Jays began yelling at the umpires, two of whom – crew chief Bill Miller and Doug Eddings – stopped and came back toward the Jays group. A lot of shouting ensued. Sources say the umpires claimed in their report to Major League Baseball that Jacoby initiated physical contact of some sort. Those same sources say Miller and Eddings were instrumental in escalating the confrontation.

Curious what the Jays are going to with their starting pitching...

Speculation Mark Buehrle could be hurt...

Drew Hutchison is struggling...

AA is going to have to look to make a trade sooner or later.... Bull pen has logged lots of innings.

RA Dickey had a really good outing.... which really helps.

I would target the Phillies to see if it wouldn't be possible to get Harang and Hamels off them. It would likely cost an arm and a leg though.

Would a Norris + Dwight Smith + DJ Davis + Mitch Nay for those two make sense?

No.

I would definitely trade for Hamels, but I think we need to hold onto anything resembling a pitcher still. If it could be done for position player prospects and $$$, sure thing.

Buerhle doing well so far and the Jays have been getting production from the bottom of the order. Up 2-1 after 2.5 innings. Another lengthy start would go a long way for this team.

Have no idea who Colabello is, but he's got 3 hits so far tonight, so I like him

Jays up 4-1 in the 6th.

Colabello had 4 hits and the Jays win 5-1. Nice job by Cecil to close it out, hope he continues to settle in that closer role.

AA has always like Garza. Not a stud or anything anymore, but if he could be had for mostly eating his salary and some mid level spect he could be decent.. Maybe decent.

No offense to Dominican players, but he's got that joker/aloof kind of personality that I think inhibits winning. Something that's been a big problem in that dressing room.

I agree that Reyes certainly looks expendable at the moment, but I worry about assuming that Ryan Goins and Devon Travis are going to continue playing at the level they have been throughout the season. That being said, eventually Bautista and Encarnacion are going to pick things up, which should mitigate that issues.

On the bright side, Donaldson just destroyed a pitch to put the Jays up 1-0 in the bottom of the 1st.
