Nope. Next year we can have a countdown thread for Ferland.

I think he has some amazing linemates. I don't think his production would be nearly as high with out Johnny and Jiri.
Not taking anything away from Sean but he gets fed some beautiful tap in goals by those two all the time. I'm glad we have a vet like Hudler and a dynamo like Gaudreau.
I think that lines chemsitry has fast tracked this rebuild. Credit to Sean for his elite finishing ability to, there is a clear difference between him in front of the net scooping in garbage and David Moss back in the day.

Monahan has played the majority of the season without Johnny and Jiri as wingers, and he has been pretty darn effective the whole time. There is no question that all three of them benefit from playing with each other though.

Me. I think ferland and bouma are our future 4th liners. Which is awesome because I can see both being able to pot 15 to 20 goals and also forecheck hard finish checks and stand up for teammates. Modern grinders.
The question for me is who will center that line? Stajans gone. Backlund Monahan and Bennett in the top 9. Maybe billy Arnold? Jankowski? Drew shore?
Exciting times to be a flames fan.

I think it mostly suits Shore, who obviously has a leg up on the other two. Granlund is the other possibility, but he might just be a better winger. Same with Jooris.
I'm not sure about Ferland and/or Bouma on the 4th line. Unless it's more of a 3a, 3b lineup, I think that stifles both guys, who have decent offensive possibilities.

I envision the 4th line C position to be somewhat of a rotating position in the next couple of years.
No telling who will develop to claim that spot, or who we'll trade for to fill it. Exciting times though indeed.

With only ten games left I don't think he can do it. That's a pretty big mountain to climb.

Yup. And my next jersey. I really see him as a Sakic/Yzerman player in the long run.
So glad the Flames got him.

Didn't Hartley himself reference Sakic when talking about Monahan?

Well and how to age yourself. For me 'back in the day' means we're talking Chouinard, Lemelin, McDonald, Peplinski, Hunter, AlMac ect ect.
God, I'm old.

Who was the last 20-year-old 30-goal-scorer in the NHL?
Did Stamkos do it? Tavares?
We are so damned lucky to have Monahan on this team.

"I think you should be better in your second year than your first year."
Wouldn't shock me at this point if he was running the Boring Monahan account this whole time, lol.

Article up on Flames.com on Mony. Love his confident attitude reflected in the excerpt below.
Quote:
"I don't really get what the sophomore slump's all about," said Monahan, who is 10th in the NHL in goals. "I think you should be better in your second year than your first year. I don't really get that theory (of a slump). You have a year under your belt and you come into your second year, you know what to expect. I think every guy should be better in their second year than your first year."
