Meh, you never know. The Flames have lost a tiny step, looked a little tired recently. Having Gio gone might be a shot in the arm to the team to dig deep.

Huge loss but the team has shown resiliency all season. You just can't count this team out.

This is the time for this team to show how mentally tough they are, which they have been for this entire season with all the naysayers, corsi/fenwick stat "gurus" and most of the hockey world just waiting for them to crash and burn. I would like to believe they would be fine considering how our top 4 has played all year long - TJ, Wideman and Russell will have to take control of that D core and just give it a little bit more than they have so far, Diaz has been playing well for the last month or so too.
Let's hope for the best.

I agree, but that's only because we've been drawing water from a stone all season. If the Flames were a computer, the CPU has been overclocked since October.

Treliving's comments this morning about "further testing" were not comforting at all.

The situation in Winnipeg was different. It turned out their #1 D man Byfuglien was the only guy left standing....
It would be as though Gio was left without Brodie (Trouba) - Russell (Enstrom), Wideman (Bogosian), and the Flames #5 Smid? (Stuart).

If Brodie is your #3, you likely have the best set of top three defencemen in the NHL.

Jets lost our top 4 D and that didn't end our season.
Flames aren't going to suddenly fall off the map if Gio is hurt. Might be a little tougher but certainly not doom and gloom imo

If he is still with the team I think that is a good sign. If it was much worse would they not send him home?
Having just said that is the access to paid medical care, MRIs and such and specialists in the East, a reason to keep him? Also, are they keeping it quiet to keep the price of any defencemen that may be involved in trades as low as possible?
Quite intriguing.

I asked Treliving if Giordano's injury was season-ending and he said that they don't know. #Flames Captain is still with the team.

They seem to be taking a page out of the Blue Jays injury play book. Don't say much, list as "day-to-day", and it takes 4 weeks for anyone to come back.
I think we should brace for Gio being out for at least 5 games or so based on those comments.
