10% is pretty weak... I don't think driving over to one and spending all that time waiting in line is worth $5.

In case some of you feel like you need to venture down to "save" on some items.
I know one of the higher ups at target Canada (Mod can PM me for verification) but most of the good items were boxed up and shipped down to the U.S long before these "sales" went on.
The sale price is only 10-30% off sticker, anything that isn't sold will likely not be liquidated any lower, they plan to truck the remaining merchandise not branded for Canada only back down to the US afterwards again.
You're wasting your time waiting in lines, there's nothing of real value worth waiting for Target was 2 steps ahead of the consumer demand here.

Probably not but if I drive by one and the lines don't look bad...
Been trying to find a used one for a while.

I would think this is a successful liquidation. There are pictures and reports of huge lineups to check out, and most of the merchandise is 10% off.

I did drive by one on my way home but the parking lot was fuller than I'd ever remembered seeing it so yeah, not worth saving 10% on one video game.
I was going to maybe look at some Pokemon cards for my kid as well but they're only 10% off too I hear.

Very few noteworthy sales, I agree. A few products are actually more expensive today after the discount than they had been in the previous month (it looks like most secondary sales have ended, such as seasonal sales, clearance items, etc).
The only Target in town is ridiculously busy, but I really don't understand why.
The bigwigs are probably planning on increasing the discounts incrementally over the coming weeks, but there will be so little of value left on the shelves by that time that it's hardly worth planning for, IMO. It's not as though they're going to be selling a PS4 or Dyson vacuum for 50% off.

I cant imagine waiting in line to get into a department store. I cant even fathom that.
Almost no level of savings is worth fighting the ensuing savagery to get in and out that hell.

Combine with the 5% off Target card for another 5%
But yeah, Target employees on RFD were already confirming this week that sales were not going to be big. This is not like a blow-out week. They are operating for another month+

If there was any truth to that statement they wouldn't be in the predicament they are in now.

There's kind of a weird symmetry here.
Target opens in Canada: big lines to get in, complaints the discounts aren't enough, shelves are empty
a bit later...
Target closes in Canada: big lines to get in, complaints the discounts aren't enough, shelves are empty.

Walked in, saw the lines, saw the poorly stocked shelves, and said to hell with it. Not worth saving 10% off whatever for those kinds of lines.
Some people had like 3 shopping carts overflowing with stuff, ranging from toys to clothes to appliances. At the 10-20% range, I couldn't believe they found it worth it.
Of course, I have no idea into their situation either.

I went to go to Rickys around 11am in Shawnessy, and the place was a zoo. No parking anywhere. Not around Rickys, not in the whole big parking lot around Target, and even the CT parking lot was full for the first few aisles. Just driving into the parking lot, and then realizing what was going on and trying to get out took like 5 minutes.
I wonder if any of the adjacent businesses noticed a decline in sales today, simply because people couldn't park and didn't want to vulture around the parking lot.

The 10-30% off at first is expected. That's pretty much how it went down at Zellers during their liquidation period. The discounts will keep increasing every week or so until there is nothing left.

I remember when CompuSmart went under and I went to the liquidation sale a few times, same thing.. started out almost no discount but people cleaned the store out, by the time it hit 50% off nothing of significance was left.

Yesterday I heard an ad on the radio, from Visions Electronics specifically talking about the Target liquidation and how the "good" electronics have been sent to Visions direct from the manufactures and not Target... and to come shop at Visions. Very strange ad.

Their (Visions) flyer came in the mail yesterday. It is weird indeed. Colour me suspicious.
