Kapanen is really disappointing. Perimeter play and doesn't do much for his linemates. Oddly out of sync. I hope he's better than this normally.

On the other hand, that Rantanen is showing himself to be a solid first round pick in the upcoming draft. I get the feeling this tournament is the confidence booster he needed to start producing more in the Finnish Elite league.

Wouldn't be the first time something like that happened.

I don't know how he projects. Looking at his style he could still just peak at third line level in the NHL but at the same time a year from now he might look like a consistent scoring threat.

Kapanen is starting to really bug me. Compare to how Teuvo made everyone on his line so much better. This dude isn't making anything happen for anyone. It's seriously bad for someone exptected to lead the offense.

Well, maybe the Finnish forwards aren't as good as I was led to believe. Rantanen is strong and has scored some goals but doesn't create offense regularly. Puljujärvi is as advertised - maybe even better - but can't be expected to lead at his age. Lehkonen also good.

Kapanen terrible. Hintz nonexistent. I hope it's just bad line chemistry or something.

Either way, the game against Sweden should be great.

Weird, I am surprised you think that little of Rantanens game. From what I have watched he's about the only one when on the ice where there's really any consistent pressure on the opposing net. He's creating but he doesn't have much help with the smaller Forwards he's been stacked up with.

I see a lot of pressure by all the lines. I don't see natural chemistry when moving towards scoring chances though. Not sure if I'd say Rantanen stands out in that regard. He's pretty strong on the puck and has been able to score goals but not enough from shift to shift for me to able to say much more.

Puljujärvi feels like the only money in the bank. If he has above average hockey smarts, he's very solid. If he continues to develop like he has and isn't a dumbo, he's first line talent. Lehkonen plays with smarts and energy but doesn't really have the attributes that guarantee an NHL career. Rantanen could well be there this time next year.

Just based on the tournament which isn't much.

Eichel vs McDavid ... in other words, the Oiler bowl?

I've been keeping my eye on Rantanen because he could very well be picked around where we land on draft day.
