Extremely small sample of course, but yeah, he can play center a bit.

Also, I don't think there's much Joe haters. If anything I think he's been flying mostly under the radar.
People need to watch Raymond's third goal. That goal doesn't happen without Joe Colborne. I think he could be the surprise player of the season.

that 3rd goal is all colborne, getting the puck in the neutral zone, beating the dman wide and then a great bullet pass for the easy tap in goal.

really impressed and excited about colborne's start to the season!

Second goal was also impressive.

Flames were having issues getting out of the zone and he came back deep down by the goaline, and made a great pass to Bouma that he tipped to Raymond setting up the goal.

Even the first goal was a good forecheck by him, with some great vision to pick out Gio as the late man.

3 beauty assists IMO.

I think Raymond and Colborne definitely need to be a pair to build around for a line. Monahan and Hudler is also working rather nicely.

I'm just sad that apparently the Oilers won the far more import advanced stats battle last night

Classic post.

Canada
Rivalry

And you feel the need to drop by and "attempt" to spoil fans celebrating said rival in a game early in the season? And from a fan that also missed the playoffs last season, with a swan dive that almost bettered both these team's draft picks?

Dude ... find a better Friday morning hobby. Sad really.

I'll look into pgt on Canuck sites the rest of the season to see if they are subdued after beating Edmonton and Calgary, guessing they may not be.

Better yet, anytime the Flames can spoil their rival's "ode to the 80s" celebration with the icons in the house make the win all the sweeter for fans.

Oh don't worry most on Calgarypuck know that the Flames suck.

The fun part is that Oilers fans start every season thinking they are better.

" This is the year we break out. Cogliano Gagner Penner Schremp Paajarvi Hall Eberle Hopkins Yakupov Draisaitl is really going be the added piece we need and will help lead the team to the playoffs. Our defense is solidified with the addition of Ference Souray Visnovsky Whitney Petry Schultz Belov Fayne! Plus we may actually get solid goaltending this year with Dubnyk Bryzgalov Khabibulin Deslauriers Roloson Scrivens in net. On top of that we have a coach Quinn Renney Kruger Eakins who was the most sought after coach in the offseason"

Then they go around to other teams fan bases and try to show off, only to show that nothing has changed once the season has started.

We all know both teams suck. The only thing is that it is crazy that the Oilers still suck just as bad after 3 first overall picks, 7 top 10 picks, and 8 years of rebuilding.

I never understood why Fayne was sought after as a free agent. A 27 year old player with 2.5 NHL seasons and he got a four year $15 million deal. It makes me like the Engelland deal more and more.

It's really kind of sad that they are almost certainly going to get another top 3 pick in 2015. How can they keep playing the "swarm" defense? I thought they were just really bad at hockey, but not I am wondering if it is on purpose. It is just too perfectly terrible to be by accident.

It's awesome, they are firing Eakins and trading Eberle as we speak

Coach Dallas Eakins: You didn't listen to a word I said. I said keep your heads up, you put your heads down. I SAID HUSTLE, YOU WENT SLOWER. That was the sloppiest playing I've ever seen! Why the hell don't you just listen to me?
Taylor Hall: Why the hell should we?
Dallas Eakins: I don't care. You wanna lose? Fine. You're the ones who look like idiots out there.

Considering the Flames have drafted in the top 3 zero times since 2010 and the Oilers have four times, including three consecutive #1 picks, isn't the fact the Oilers are still a bottom feeder the real story here? Like this is one of the worst runs any franchise has had in any sport ever. Even when the Clippers were a debacle from about 1995-2005 they didn't get three #1 picks in a row. Same with the Lions from 2000-2009. This is a historically awful run for the Oilers.

Just a reminder that tonight is the regular season opener for the Adirondack Flames at 5pm.

I'll be watching and posting highlights as the game goes on in the Propsects forum, but may also post the clips here as well.

Well done It's like playing Oilers Mad Libs -- every year is a new story but it always ends with being no good.

New strategy for game 2:

Oilers: Take the fall! Act hurt! Get indignant!

Many Oiler fans keep saying they are "better on paper". Just not true. Scoreboard does not lie (going back many games). The rink has three zones.
