because they aren't use to passes coming from out of nowhere. Nobody really anticipates what Johnny is going to do and a lot of his passes wind up on a teammates stick that is completely not ready to take a pass and they panic a little.

We keep asking 'is Johnny ready for the NHL?' when we should be asking 'are the Flames ready for Johnny?'

I've notice that too. Basically, if you're out there with Johnny Hockey just keep your stick on the ice. I know, I know....there's absolutely no way he could get the puck to you right now, but trust me...keep your stick on the ice...the pass is coming.

I first started noticing that during the WHC series. There were a few times where he set guys up with gimme goals, only for them to fan because they couldn't get their stick down fast enough and fanned on the shot. They started to figure it out as the series wore on, even though they regularly had a look of shock after scoring from a beauty feed.
