Well if Bumgarner threw out his arm tonight because his season pitch count got too high, he goes out a legend.

Vegas will have the Giants as odds on favorites to win the 2016 series before they peg a favorite for 2015.

Congrats to the Giants. I hope they keep Sandoval, that guy has been clutch for them. Pretty cool to see him talking to all his team mates before the game.

MLB has changed the decision, Affeldt win, Bumgarner save.

Gordon's last 90 feet probably wouldn't have been as fast as his first 270...maybe a different story if he's coming from 1st or 2nd, but an ITP homer normally needs a bigger error(s) than that or Rickey Henderson on the paths...

Lost in the legend of Bumgarner, Jeremy Affeldt now has gone 22 consecutive postseason outings without giving up a run, trailing only Mariano Rivera at 23. And he was obviously the critical bridge last night, got them from Hudson to Bumgarner without giving up anything.

Affeldt's interview after the game was great - he was deeply moved, having started his career in KC.

He had more than a normal rooting interest. His son, Madison, the best postseason pitcher on the planet, plays for the Giants. And this night Madison had pitched five innings and earned the save.

“I didn’t know if he had enough left tonight,” Kevin said. “But I did know that boy would try to steal a steak off the devil’s plate.”
Quote:
Today, Madison Bumgarner is known for a rocking chair motion, a 95-mile-per-hour fastball and a cutter that slides across the strike zone like a greased marble. But in high school, he was also a swatter, one of four batters known as the Bomb Crew.

“See that?” Parham said, pointing beyond the outfield fence. “Madison hit 10 home runs over that pole and those pine trees.”

He broke into a grin as he talked of that team. “Lots of people don’t like to hear this” — he leaned in as if to tell a delicious secret — “but Madison’s team, we had scuffles at practice. Fights! They were very competitive boys.

“And we had the big boy.”

Parham made a throwing motion. “Ssssss” — he made a sound like a 737 taking off — “pop! Ssssss-pop!”

Once, Bumgarner hit 97 m.p.h. in the seventh inning.

“I said: ‘That all you got?’ ” Parham recalled. “He put on his hat and looks at me and says, ‘No, sir.’ ”

Then he hit 98.

“The fire already was burning in that boy,” Parham said. “All you had to do was throw a little coal on.”
Quote:
He had agreed I could stop by and watch Game 7. A few hours before the game, however, he begged off. “I’m kinda nervous wreck,” he texted.

I showed up after the game. Kevin was near vibrating, having chewed bubble gum with a light beer chaser during the game. We talked baseball, and pickup trucks. (Madison won a Chevrolet pickup as part of his M.V.P. award; his father said he already had so many “I got hopes he might give that one to me.”)

Then Kevin pulled out his phone. He had texted Madison after the eighth inning, and he tried to read it to me. He began to choke up and just handed me the phone.

“OMG. You’re so much more than awesome,” Kevin had written to his son. “To see you work on the mound reminds me of watching you in high school. You are willing yourself to perfection and dragging the team along with you. I couldn’t be more proud of your baseball accomplishments.”

Kevin looked at me. “I knew he wouldn’t read that text before the game was over,” he said, “but I wanted him to know this was what his daddy thought of him.”

3 titles in 5 years for the Giants and they probably aren't even as good as they could have been.

If Lincecum was able to stay in his form from 2010, if Cain didn't have injury issues, etc this team would really be dominant.

lol...so that truck with "technology and stuff" that Madison won? Yeah, already recalled.

Quote:
General Motors has told dealers to halt deliveries of the new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups because of a pending safety recall to fix an airbag defect, just two weeks after shipments began for the high-profile launch.

In a note sent to dealers Thursday about the midsize pickups, GM said it has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of an “upcoming safety and noncompliance recall” to fix the airbag flaw. GM said that the pickups’ driver-side airbag connections “were wired incorrectly during the manufacturing process,” which could disrupt their deployment.

Gordon comments on what could have been for the Royals

Quote:
Gordon later said that he had stumbled around second base, and added that third-base coach Mike Jirschele did the right thing by holding him at third — even though outfielder Juan Perez had bobbled and kicked the ball on the warning track, and infielder Brandon Crawford had to short-hop Perez's throw in relatively deep left field before a potential relay throw. Gordon probably wouldn't have made it home in time.

General Motors is so much like the Edmonton Oilers it creeps me out. At one point a powerhouse in the business, now they are an absolute disgrace. Pretty funny to offer a baseball player a Chevy Colorado too....I'm sure the people in my office wouldn't even get excited about being given a Colorado, let alone millionaires.
