Yeah, even a company as evil as EA probably wouldn't go to the great length of plastering "All footage captured from actual gameplay" on the first 5 seconds of the video or say "And yes, that is actual gameplay" in the Youtube details without it being true. That would completely cross the line between taking marketing liberties, and outright negligence.
They would be risking a lawsuit, and even EA doesn't like lawsuits.

big big difference between Aliens : Colonial Marines and Watch_Dogs being new games previewed years before their release and NHL 15 being an iterative improvement of a game previewed 3 months before release.

i'm baffled how anyone can say the game looks good from what we have seen? all of the footage has been super slow mo up close replay stuff. thats not indicative of what the game really is. heck, with what we have seen, it looks as if they are still terrible at making realistic faces, so i am going to assume that they are going to over promise and under deliver like they do every year. **edit: want to clarify that i am not implying the faces are important to the game but that if they cant even get that trivial part right, then why assume they can deliver on anything else?**
i hope the game looks good from the normal views and i hope that the next gen allows the ai to be improved over the last generation. but lets not kid ourselves, these cut scenes and up close views are exactly what we all button mash to skip over while playing (after the first day when its cool to see) so its not really relevant to what the game will be.
They still happen in the game as part of the game, you can still see these events in replay. What you're talking about it the "top down" view a lot of people see, which likely won't look remarkably different (players can only look so good from 30 feet up).
No, we haven't see that yet, but we've seen a lot we can compare to NHL 14 and comparatively it looks GREAT and is a huge step up.
I'm more baffled how someone could see that and not be impressed, what were you wanting?
We've seen the crowd (huge improvement), the ice (looks great), the player models (all really well done, including the faces), and the way the jerseys interact separately from the players. Overall, they've shown a lot, and it's been impressive. And absolutely everything has looked improved over the very same types of angles and shots in NHL 14.
Can't be sure what more people wanted, unless their ideas of seeing all the improvements was seeing them from 30 feet away.
I want to learn to play the game from the broadcast camera. I think it would take some getting used to, but would look a lot better.
NBA 2K14 looks similar to the real thing - it would be great if the hockey game played well from that angle as well.
I have only tried it a couple of times but found passing to be nearly impossible. It's like the angles on the screen do not line up with the angles on your controller, if that makes sense. Then again, I have been playing it in the classic view for over a decade and are probably just used to it.
If we're going to be picky, the E3 2012 footage of Watch Dogs was not claimed to be actual footage. Feel free to prove me wrong here, but I don't see it.

Graphics don't do much for many players of this game. The gameplay has been brutal over the past few years with the year to year changes leaving folks disappointed. Seeing more crowd models is useless if the ai is still useless, the puck bounces like a football, goalies have force fields, picks/sticks/legs skates can pass thru one another with no consequence. I don't need to see more slow mo dekes, or ai players having no idea what to on the ice (forward facing Subban on the point shot).
First trailer, audio and graphics look good, but those are minor details all things considered. Hope to see game play improvements showcased in upcoming vids before considering this revolutionary (ie. how the skills tick revolutionized nhl games in the current gen).

No, but it's presented as though it's gameplay footage based on the presentation. Just the way it's delivered insinuates that this is someone playing a demo of the game.

I see more of what you're saying, but why were you baffled that people thought it looked good? The game, visually, LOOKED GOOD! Haha.
Yeah, puck bounces and some of the physics could use improving, so hoping that's happened, but right now, based on what we've seen, it LOOKS GOOD and is an improvement.
Don't be such a Debbie downer! You have some good concerns about stuff we're all waiting to see, but it's ok to say the gameplay trailer looks like a good improvement.
where was i baffled that people thought it looked good??
Not sure i ever questioned anyone elses opinion here, just stated mine. I also do agree visually the trailer looked good. I think it is fair to reserve judgement till actual game play videos are shared, as i do feel cinema-like trailers are not indicative of how the game will actually feel playing.
Kind of a lose-lose situation for game developers at these events these days.
In the past they would show early gameplay that was obviously running on a high end development PC and then would get blasted when the game got downgraded to actually have it perform on a console.
Now they moved away from that and just show CGI trailers for early development cycle games and get blasted for not showing gameplay.

Totally my bad! Mixed you up with someone else, sorry man!
