That Latvian Goalie needs another smoke during the intermission. He's getting pounded.

Not an fan of the Olympics, in general, and only have the games on for noise...and to keep up on NHL player injuries, hoping that my 'Hawk guys come through unscathed...

But in flipping between the games on now, Canada should have some concerns, the Latvians are "Hanging Around"...and with a hot goalie, this can be fatal to a superiorly talented team.

It's officially heart attack time.

The Latvians win two periods 1-1.

Their goaltending is killing us.

Sadly, Canada is choking.

(The most epic choke in hockey history perhaps?)

"Are you nervous, Canada?"

I have to admit, a little bit. At this point one break for the Latvians and a goal and that can be pretty deflating. Panic sets in and composure goes out the window.

However, Canada has essentially dominated every position on the ice. If they engage that third gear they should be able to pull this one out. Just can't get caught looking ahead to Friday and stay within the game.

nearly 40 shots...

Latvia is out of gas and can barely enter the Canadian zone. Canada needs a goal in the first 6 minutes to kill this game off.

So now Latvia will be packing it in the entire third to get to OT or the shootout. Exactly what Canada didn't want. Better produce an early goal in the 3rd or Latvia is going to steal this thing.

Latvians cannot seriously keep playing at that pace.

I hope.

It's be nice to have Subban on the pp instead of Hamhuis getting 40 seconds of play.

Imagine the mood in the Latvian dressing room this intermission. They're 20 minutes away from a massive upset and semi-final berth. All they have to do is lay it all on the line and play the best hockey of their lives. For 20 minutes, 4 or so shifts each. And maybe some luck.

Its going to be an exciting third. At this rate it seems Canada needs some luck too.

I'm expecting Canada will score and open the floodgates, but if that's what they expect in the Canadian dressing room as well, all the ingredients are present for an upset.

One game in a knock-out tournament against a team playing rope-a-dope, tells you nothing about your team or its players.

Who could compete with Canada in a 7 game series? Maybe only the USA or Sweden.

I'd laugh my ass off if Canada crashed out ... Canada and Russia both losing in the quarters? Couldn't get better than that. Sorry guys
