Backlund really seems to have upped his compete level over the last 2-3 weeks - winning a lot of faceoffs it seems like, and really controlling the tempo for that line.

One of the best games I've ever seen Backlund play, he's a huge positive nearly every shift he's out there. Hopefully he keeps improving

Smid and Backlund have been impressive. Very glad that Backlund has started to turn his game around

Toews is definitely a ceiling Monahan can reach. Has such a great hockey IQ and goes about his game quietly and effectively. I really like how he crashes the net once he makes plays on the boards.

That's a heavy indicator, in my mind. He plays and acts like he's been there a million times before in situations he's never encountered.

I agree... and then there is Alex Ovechkin who has scored around 400 goals and jumps around like each goal is his first

I sure hope he stays. Ever since there was rumour of him being traded, Backlund really has seemed like a different player.

I hate so much about Rob Kerr saying "...HE DIPS THE SHOULDER". Where did he even pick that up. He drops that line about thrice a game.

I think Carolina is really going to regret taking Lindholm over Monahan. No disrespect to Lindholm, he's probably more skilled than Monahan, but I think Monahan has the whole package. Captian material for sure.

Cammalleri is a step behind tonight. Good penalty draw though.

Poor call. Two minutes for being tall.

More of "ever since he started getting some quality ice-time"

Other than being a good net front pressence on the 4 on 3 he's been pretty quiet. This is the kinda game where he scores though.

Think so? Toews scores some real beauties out there; kinda like Tavares. I don't think I've seen Monahan do that (maybe the shootout goal)? He just always seems to be in the right spot popping goals. At first I thought it was right place right time and he would slow down his scoring, but right when he seems like he's having a quiet game bang.....goal.

It's awesome.
