Unfortunately you can't share a contact via SMS on android natively. Don't ask me why they have omitted it. You can use this app to do it though.

Another quirk I've noticed is you can't edit an email when you reply to someone.

Eg: someone sends me an email draft they want to send out somewhere, but they want me to proofread it. I can't reply, go to the body and edit. It's really weird that when you hit reply you can't select anything below where you're typing something in.

Be very careful with the phone. Having the gorilla glass extend right to the edges of your phone means that the screen quite susceptible to shattering if you drop your phone along the edge. That's exactly what happened to me, and seems to be fairly common from what I could tell from the Google forums.

LG was offering to replace the screen for $250, but I figured hell nah. Instead, I was able to sell my cracked one on Ebay for $265 and bought myself a new one with a bumper case. Hopefully that helps!

Picked up a Nexus 5 last Sunday while in Montreal. Very happy to be back with a Nexus phone.

The only thing I'll miss about the G2 is the bigger battery.

I'm going to update my accessory thread with links to the cases and screen guards I got for my Nexus 5.

Are the G2 and N5 not very similar? I thought outside of a few camera differences they were basically the same. Did you return the G2? I'm jonesing for a new phone but I'm not sure what yet.

G2 and N5 are very similar. When I updated, I had both in my hand trying to decide between the two.

Camera - N5 - 8MP, G2 - 13MP

G2 has the power and volume buttons in the back instead of on the side as per usual and the G2 has a 5.2 screen over the 4.95 for the N5. Bigger battery in the G2 as well (3000 vs 2300).

The thing that sold me on the N5 was the simplicity. Updates right away and pure Android. No LG UI or any carrier crap. Just pure Googleness. We have already had 2 updates to KitKat which was nice to be able to get easily and without any carrier interference or waiting.

My battery life has been pretty good with the N5 as well. A couple of tweaks here and there, but it's been lasting all day without issue. Google does promise 18 months of updates as well to each of their Nexus devices so I'll still be getting updates right up until it's time to trade in for a new phone. That was the deciding factor for me. No ROM's or anything to load. Pure stock, updated ASAP.

I did not return the G2. Let's just say it's in no condition to be used again.

...thank you Montreal and your crazy night life...

What are you using currently.

I just go my N5 last night after being an SGS2 user for several years. If you have been rooted and using custom ROMs, the upgrade is quite underwhelming.

I do really like the stock Android-ness of it.

I am on an S3 and it has been rooted and running custom ROMs about 10 mins after receiving it. It's a great phone and I would pass it on to the wife if I get something else. Might just wait for the S5 or look at a used N5.

You can expect the Samsung GS5 around March or April.

.

I just made the switch to android from an iphone 4, do you mind if ask what battery tweaks you did to make it last longer? I put a custom Rom on there, but from there i'm not sure what to do to get it to last all day.

There a couple of apps you could try:
BatteryGuru
Greenify

A couple of custom kernels to choose from (may not play nice with all ROMs):
Franco
ElementalX

Also Check your battery in your settings. it will tell you exactly what is draining your battery. Some poorly made apps will destroy your battery if they aren't closed all the way.

Yeah, no major tweaks, just made sure location settings are set to battery saver and a couple of other apps are only updating at later times other than something like every 15 minutes.

It's strange. Some days I go to bed at say 11 and I still have 75% after having taken it off the charger at 6am that morning. Then other days, I'm down to 20%. Close to the same use each day. The battery is up and down and certainly not as long lasting as the G2, but I've never really ran out of battery during the day.

The Experience Launcher on the Nexus 5 is very nice as well. Very functional. Not quite as customizable as Nova but it was good enough that I didn't bother installing any 3rd party launcher on it.

Yeah, I just use the default launcher as well, even though I own a Nova license. Just really want to stay as much stock as possible.

Yeah me too. I still like the customizable icons in Nova, and they've recently updated to include the clear notification bar. So it's still a great launcher, but I love how with the Experience Launcher I can just slide across to check all my Google cards. I think that's the kicker for me. That and I'm too lazy to download it and set it up on my phone. My Nexus 7 is still running Nova though, and probably won't change it even when the Experience Launcher releases for it.

I really like the Nexus 5 but I think if I come across a good deal on a G2 I would probably go for it. The extra battery would be handy to have for sure.
