But part of it is being young, and still being in an adjustment period from his juniors days. But I agree that no one should be talking about any trades. You have to be kidding if you're even entertaining the idea at this point. When we're talking about a guy who's already shown an ability to put together an impressive point streak in the league at the age of 19?... smh.

Patrick Kane is not physical either. Baertschi is bigger and stronger and hits more than Kane.
The Flames got Monahan so that he could be Toews to Baertschi's Kane.
Once you have the two of them you can find a Bickell to go with them.
If Baertschi gets forced to play on a line with Hudler and Granlund.... even for a short time Hartley should be fired and banned from coaching anybody but the Oilers in North America.
Hartley came back from Switzerland figuring that good small players should be able to handle the banging that they are going to get.
One the plus side the Flames have got guys like Sieloff and Ramage and SOB and hopefully Kanzing who understand that when they see a line of Hudler, Baertschi and Granlund it is pure fun to smash them to smithereens.

Hallet, Jermaine Franklin, the bald guy from CTV(?), poorly dressed Rob Kerr, Roger Millions leaning against a pillar checking you out.

I think Steinberg (black shirt) has his back to the camera too. Loubardias and Maher were standing right beside me, I thought I got them too, but I guess I didn't get them in the shot.
I didn't realize Loubo was so thin, he's lost a ton of weight since the last time I saw him, I didn't even recognize him until I heard his voice.

At the very beginning, if you take your eyes away from Ms Hallett, check out the logo on the back of the guy's t-shirt with the crossed fire axes that turn into hockey sticks.
Looks like it says "Earned Never Given". I love that. I want that shirt.
It might be too busy for a shoulder patch, but I've always thought a jersey with the CFD colours and stripes would look great, and when Hartley introduced the fireman's hat last season, he said there was going to be more to the partnership between the Flames and the CFD in the future.
Any idea who that is wearing it? He looks sweaty, so I assume it's a player.

Sorry, only player I noticed walk by me (other than Monahan), was Baertschi. I'm not used to looking at these guys without their gear on.
I concur though, that patch is all kinds of awesome.

He is 20. He finished last season with 9 points in 7 games. He is not going to step into the NHL and be Sidney Crosby.
Let him grow for christsakes.
Giving up on kids too early will get you absolutely nothing in return.

I think you and others should read my post. I'm not writing him off, I said he's going to be a very good player like Hemsky. I'm just concerned with his fragility, which in light of the concussions he's suffered in the last two years and the big hits he's absorbed, are a legitimate concern.
I simply said that if the Flames should get a good offer for Sven that includes a young centre or defenseman, they should strongly consider it.
I think many posters here need to actually read posts carefully instead of over-reacting.

Speaking of over-reacting...
What makes you think my post was in reference to you only you? Yes, I quoted you, but also referenced posters in the plural - maybe it's you that needs to actually read the post.

Just got home but I saw some of the first scrimmage and most of the second.
Just some quick points on who stood out to me.
Backlund - He was rushing to puck up ice and gaining the zone constantly. Really liked his game, made some great passes, and back checked hard.
Giordano - To me, it was the Gio of old. Making great passes, pinching effectively, just an overall solid effort.
Brodie - Very steady and even carried the puck deep into the offensive zone several times.
Monahan - Won the vast majority of faceoffs I was able to see. Great puck possession. Kid has such a good IQ and knows where to be. His top shelf off the bar goal short side was a damn thing of beauty.
Ferland - To me, looked better than Jackman and any other player of that mold. Nice hands, great board play and decent speed.
Poirier - I thought he was pretty effective using his speed and made some nice passes.
Glencross - We know what he brings. But certainly need to mention as he stood out. In my opinion the best winger. Great speed, tried to attack the net many times.
Stempniak - Similar to Glencross, used his speed and positioning to make plays effectively.
O'Brien - Nothing fancy, but plays a hard game and able to keep the puck in the zone a few times.
Wotherspoon - This guy is solid. Just a calm steady presence on the blueline.
Sieloff - Easily my favourite blueliner. Laid out Nemisz in front of the net in the 2nd game. He doesn't take a shift off. Takes the body and got some pucks on net. He blocked a hard slap shot and the crowd and bench gave him big props for that.
Kanzig - Probably stood out mostly because he is a little like Godzilla. But actually was quite effective. Gotta love that size.
Jooris - Found myself checking the roster sheet on him. Scored a beauty goal and made some slick passes.
I thought Ramo and I think it was Berra made some great saves. Desperation type saves. This from the top of my head and after a couple afternoon beers but thats who stood out to me.
Some players like Cammy, Knight, Baertschi, and Horak were solid. But just didn't standout like the others mentioned.
