Breen and Cundari. That's about it.

Sieloff's injured. Wotherspoon is still having growing pains at the pro level. Ramage is wildly inconsistent game-to-game and is also having growing pains at times. Billins could be an option, but I haven't really paid all that much attention to him yet.

Drew MacKenzie has been the best Heat defenceman in the early going. So steady and makes real good heady plays. Unfortunately, he's on an AHL deal.

PMM: How is Cundari doing? I don't understand why he's not up and Butler is gone somewhere far away.

Yeesh, what happened to Sieloff? He was injured for a large part of last year too. I hope he doesn't end up being injury prone.

Cundari hasn't been that great. He is improving but in the first game I would even say he was the worst player on the ice. Butler is much better than Cundari, some of you need to really get over this Butler hate because thinking a guy like Cundari is better than Butler is just ridiculous.

I agree with you that there is irrational hate for Butler but his errors do result in big goals. I'm sure when the coaches watch him in practice, they see a big mobile defenseman with good skills, but in a game, he just panics and makes dumb decisions which leads to bad results.

I think the hate also stems from the fact that he is really plain vanilla. There's nothing interesting about him, he doesn't bring anything exciting. Mistakes will be there with a 3rd pairing guy, and I think most fans would accept that if he brought something else to the team.

For a guy like Cundari, he's suppose to be a greasy and tough player, and he showed some flashes of offense too last year. To put it another way, CUndari is a bit more exciting (can be good and bad) of a player than Butler, so I think fans want to see that more than boring old Butler.

Same goes for Breen, he brings another exciting element in his toughness and his ability to fight.

There's also the whole upside thing and the unknown with Cundari and Breen. Flames fans haven't had a chance to hate on these guys yet, but they have had plenty of time to hate on Butler, and he really hasn't done anything to change that.

It is interesting that Butler is asked every year to play for the US World Championship team, so that means that there are people in the hockey world who see potential from him.

Breen has to be back with the Flames by Thursday, I think ... I'd hope they assign Smith to Abby at that point and give Breen a shot and sit Butler for a couple of games. Breen is long overdue for an NHL opportunity, but it seems he's always injured when such a chance arises. Hope he runs with it this time.

Brandon Astle also can't hold a candle to Pinder. So much dead air.

OKC 2/2 on the PP and 4 goals on 19 (I think) shots for Berra. Yeesh.

Edit: Berra gets the hook.

Hanowski leads all rookies with 4 goals, leads team with 5 points.

Granlund gets first career AHL point.

The combination the lack of more than 3 advertisements, the inability of Brandan Astle to do any kind of interesting play-by-play, and the complete absence of a colour commentator when the pbp guy desperately needs one makes the radio broadcast unlistenable. I'd rather just sit around and refresh the game sheet, it's less abrasive. Tuning out. Keep us posted.

The Heat mentioned some audio issues for tonight. This is worse then usual.

End of the 2nd period, OKC lead 4-1.

Berra pulled mid second period after letting in 4 goals on 19 shots. Brossiot has made 5 saves (one being a big one).

Heat will start the 3rd on the PP.

I'm being told Astle is actually calling the game from his phone. Hence no colour and less then desirable quality of the sound.
