Have a look at the houses in Bragg Creek or High River where the floods have clearly destroyed those peoples possessions. People have died in the severity and thousands have been evacuated. That's exactly what you're doing though.

I don't know that losing your personal effects is easier or harder than losing your job and financial security. It would depend on the individual situation.

But I do know that either situation sucks pretty badly. Why bother with making it a contest?

Like I said you missed the point of his post. Your probably guilty of the same thing your accusing him of. Looks to be fairly in the middle of the rink, maybe more towards one end...the red reflection on the left is likely from the clock that's up halfway in the second level (though not sure why it would have power) at the end.

Here's a pic...count 5 or 6 rows down from the box to get an idea of where the water does indeed come up to.

That's an emergency exit light, they are battery powered....back up at least. You will now noticed the hundreds of them in the dome forever.

you're dreaming..the switchgear and central distribution panel at the service entry are down there. In addition, generators and transformers are submerged. All of these components, in addition to the hundreds of outlets and lighting fixtures will need replaced. Massive undertaking... you will be lucky to see it open in time for the 2014/15 season

I often get homesick, not for any "thing" in particular, but for the people and community. It's just not quite the same down here...everyone is so individualistic and self focused. I miss home and I hope everyone is doing ok through this crisis. Thoughts and prayers.

I would expect the Flames to have some sort of off site data storage.

I have to admit, though that when you consider the costs to restore the Saddledome....it's probably going to amount to the funding void for a new building. Depending on the damage, 4 months is going to be a very tight time frame to get the building repaired. Especially since every restoration contractor in the province is likely going to be booked well beyond full capacity.
