Personally these guys are always making me cringe with their bad jokes.

And because of them all the people who do the recap shows nowadays try and be comedians instead of just recapping the games with an occasional funny comment.

Whenever I try and watch Sportscentre or the Sportsnet version I end up turning it off in a couple minutes because all of the hosts come across as snarky, stupid, fratboy wannabes.

Just show me the damn game highlights please!

Also why do all the women hosts have such deep voices? It's fine, but it seems strange that almost all of them do.

Watched the first one tonight. Was ok. I'm sure it will lose its lustre like (imo) they did before they left for FS1. Might be better when hockey is back.

Everything is better when hockey is back.

Man I love Jay and Dan. So glad they're back. I like that the return show was nothing crazy. They had a few good bits but it felt like they had never left. I stopped watching Sportscentre nightly when they left but I'll probably be tuning in every night again.

Prefer Tim and Sid to be honest, good to have options. Also they aren't on at the same time so it helps.

There's a reason they got fired from FS1. Tuned in tonight and it was a whole lot of meh. Kate Beirness broadcast is better.

I thought it was pretty bad last night. The jokes felt forced and I don't remember Dan's voice on highlights being so high pitched and annoying. I'm sure it was opening night jitters but maybe I got used to the attractive ladies doing the show without the bad jokes.

Didn't everyone get fired from FS1?

I didn't think it was great, for the most part they just read the exact same copy as the previous sports center team and threw in some lame jokes. I was hoping for something a little more creative.

Hopefully they'll find their stride during the hockey season, but I give their debut a solid meh.

When they were on TSN before, I would only catch bits of their segments by accident - turn to TSN and there they were - or in cilps on youtube. Last night was the first time I specifically tuned in to watch them, and I enjoyed it.

They have undeniable chemistry together, and their banter makes the normal highlight package that much better. Producer Tim's reveal made me smile, as did their bashing of Bell for all of the hype/promotion that was done, and Dan as Trivago guy actually made me laugh out loud. I liked their comments on what's changed at TSN since they left, and I also liked a lot of their non-scripted side stuff: Jay commenting on how uncomfortable he looked in the new chairs (which was exactly what I was thinking), responding to tweets, etc.

That said, not all of their bits worked - Are you Related, timing the walk from the desk to the chairs, and correcting Shapovalov's pronunciation fell flat. But I do like the fact that they are willing to try different things, and you never know what they will throw at you.

As a package, I thought the show was great. I would definitely watch it over the regular sportscentre. I can't fairly comment as I wasn't a regular viewer before, but I suspect people see the highlights of their show on youtube and expect it to be crazy funny all the time. Their humor is a little oddball, and so almost by definition it won't always work for everyone, imho.

It's a hard night to start with not a lot going on

Brand new format too, I would guess the show looks a lot different and has more of a groove in a few months. They were always better when stuff was off the cuff and not forced segments. Both are talented, even the people in the US that did watch liked them and media people have good reviews, the channels ratings were just a disaster

Not a ton of competition from the other SportsCenter or Sportsnets show so I think this will be given a chance, hope it improves

More excited for the podcast to be back to be honest

Wasnt bad. Wasnt great but wasnt bad. They just need to be careful to not force the jokes too much and turn it into a SNL sports show sketch. When they're just themselves and not forcing the humour too much though, they're fantastic

I thought they were good. They bring character to the show, and I understand that some people don't like that, but they're are massive upgrade over what TSN had been using. I don't think I could give you the full name of any SC host since they left.

Tim and Sid aren't a highlight show. They host a talk show.

I'd enjoy Tim & Sid a lot more if Sid wouldn't go on his phony outbursts with all the fake rage.

I liked Jay & Dan's first show back. Got a kick out of O'Toole constantly losing his ####.

Can't believe I forgot to PVR this last night, I even made a reminder for myself to do it! So happy they're back, and the pod finally returns this week too!

I certainly get how they're not for everyone, but they always give me a laugh when I need it. Odd nostalgic comfort knowing they're back

I think that's why TSN was pretty smart by having the regular style sportscentre air on 2 of their channels in the morning and Jay and Dans show on two other channels, gives something for everyone.
