@TimSassone: Iginla to the Hawks? Not for a No. 1 pick and a player. Not sure he could play on their top two lines. #Blackhawks

Hard to predict these deadline rental deals. If Flames know he has no intention in returning next year, they really have no leverage, and if only one team is seriously interested, they may only offer up a late first round pick or worse. The Flames would pretty much be forced to take it, since keeping him for the rest of the year is not really worth anything to them.
If a bunch of teams all get reckless and are out bidding each other thinking he's the key to winning the cup, then there's no limit to his return.
Really is a case that he is only worth what someone is willing to pay, no guarantees at all. It's not a given that anyone is going to be serious to give up anything significant.

The Hawks first round pick is going to be very late, maybe even the last one of the round. Those aren't that valuable in the grand scheme of things. Now if the Hawks pick was in the top ten, okay sure I'd see the point.
As for his last point, teams load up at the deadline, especially contenders. The whole "top two lines" doesn't matter. They'd find a place.

Is that because he thinks Iginla has lost a step and can't keep up with the top 6 on the Hawks team, or because he would disrupt chemistry?
Pretty funny though who George Johnson is retweeting. Good God he has turned into a senile moron lately.

Saw this news on another site, was interested enough to look in the hockey forum for the first time this season.
Will miss Iggy, but it's the best for both parties.

Right now Hossa and Kane play right wing for the Hawks. I'm not sure if either of those guys can play left, but obviously at this point Iginla is a better option than Saad in the top 6 (if he is still around after the trade...)

Im looking for that kind of return as well....though with the limited teams the bounty may not be quite the same.

That was probably the high water mark for an older ufa. Not sure we will see that again.

It all depends when and what the market is. Comparing the trade market now to three years ago is fairly useless because there is a new CBA, this is a shortened season, and supply/demand are different now. And the bottom line is that these ten days are the highest demand, lowest supply of the year. The Morrow move certainly gives an indicator of where things are and I think it's safe to say Iginla is valued considerably higher than Morrow.

I don't know. They spelled Jarome right, seems legit to me.

I think Crosby is a big outlier. Without him I'm not convinced Kunitz is worth anything really, and Neal without one of Crosby or Malkin is heavily diminished.
I'd also say Chicago has the faster team, and I'm not sure Iginla would complement it nearly so well.

I don't want Iggy going to Boston. I'd love to see him go there, however they really have no pieces that interest me at all. (Outside of Hamilton and Seguin, both of which we definitely won't get)

An hour ago, I don't think we would have said that the Pens wouldn't have moved Morrow for Morrow.
Trade deadline does funny things to GMs.
