I too think it's on the table, I just hope the asking price is a centerman < 30 in the exchange.

Which centreman is available? That is the question.

No need to be sad. Unless it's like the #1 overall pick, the team's 1st should always be on the table. That doesn't mean you trade it for the best deal available, but if the right deal comes along the team's 1st should be made available.

I don't think the 1st is on the table for anyone over the age of 25. More likely it is only on the table for someone that is 20-23 years old. I think the Flames might regret not moving their 1st for Turris last year and were not going to make that same mistake for O'Rielly (at least that is what I thought they were thinking).

I don't think they regret that at all considering that in my opinion when all is said and done I think Jankowski will turn out to be a far better player than Turris.

A Giordano/Couturier deal is something I dream of.

I think they regret it because of their "win now" mandate. Turris has been excellent for Ottawa. Its far to early to say Jankowski will be as good or better than Turris. He might never make it to the NHL as far as we know.

I don't get it. Maybe it is my inner jadedness from draft picks of yore, but I don't see anything at all when I watch Jankowski. Granted, I've been wrong with many draft picks like Myers, Like Schenn and Gallagher who I thought were not nhl material

Janko went from high school to college hockey. He also shot up many inches in a year and a half and is still getting used to his height. Given that he is 2 weeks from getting drafted this year, and still filling out physically all while producing at a 0.5 ppg pace on an offensively stunted team is pretty darn good.

He has all the puzzle pieces, he just needs time to put them together. He isn't jumping into the NHL next year. Give him 3-5 years. He's a bit of a project.

I agree, just not so sure they will be trading any young players

It all depends on where our 1st rounder ends up. There is a huge difference between top 5 and top 10, than top 10-20 and 20-30.

Gioradno and our 1st rounder would be a starting point for Couturier

I think they regret not trading Olli Jokinen for a first so they could likely have Janko and Turris if they really wanted to.

Think if the Flames had Turris, Backlund, and O'Rielly up the middle this rebuild talk wouldn't be as loud.

Flames should be looking for more top 10 picks, not exploring avenues to give one up.

Somewhat related, but who on this team has a NTC/NMC?

I saw Babchuk/Sarich/Gio in a few rumours, but I think they all have NTC/NMC don't they? Cammalleri and Glencross also have NTC's as well?

Crazyiness...Couturier has achieved god like status on CP..

FLames are very likely to be drafting in the 6 to 10 range with a good chance to draft a guy like Sean Monahan, who is a very similar prospect to Couturier. Why would you give up Giordano as well for that?

I think a 1st rounder in that 6 to 10 range alone is good enough for Couturier. The guy had a good year last year, but has struggled this year. ROR is a safer asset than Couturier and the Flames were only willing to give up their 1st rounder and 3rd rounder. Is Giordano not worth more than a 3rd round pick?
