No because it's very obvious everytime he types anything. A good example is earlier in this topic when he (once again) suggests trading a 1st round pick for Clutterbuck.

I think Feaster's plan was to try and buy him out but knew if he wasn't able to he had 1 more year after of having Ramo's rights. The new CBA changed that though.

I thought the RFA rights remained the same as they were under the CBA a player was drafted during? Maybe I just imagined that.....

MacDonald can be as easily discarded as he was obtained.

Not necessarily.
Another team will have to claim him.

Quite possible Kipper is out longer then expected and a MacDonald/Irving tandem is much better then a Irving/Taylor tandem.
If we look at it rationally Kipper and Backlund have very similar injuries, an MCL injury that likely is more limiting for a goalie then a player since the goalie has more lateral movement.
Yet Backlund is out 4-6 weeks while Kipper is out week to week.
Granted there is a difference between grade 1 (Kipper) and 2 (Backlund) strains but Wiki has this listed as recovery times for the injury.
Quote:
Depending on the grade of the injury, the lowest grade (grade 1) can take between 2 and 10 weeks for the injury to fully heal. Recovery times for grades 2 and 3 can take weeks to several months.
|
Could really just be that Kipper is worse off then expected and the Flames are making this move to provide some insurance.

Maybe for 1 year (which would be the current season), but doing it for 2 doesn't make much sense. But I could be wrong, either way with with Kiprusoff here and likely stating 80% of the games getting Ramo to come over will not be a sure thing.

As per Millions twitter, if your starting goalie isn't even dropping to his knees, he's weeks out from starting, even for a sprain.
I mean, I might eat my shorts here and watch him start on Wednesday, but in terms of bellweathers to hang your hat on, a goalie not bending his legs isn't a good sign.

I don't believe Krahn ever sat on the bench during Kipper's time either. He certainly never played as a Flame.
Also, CuJo and McLennan were great as our backup.
|
Krahn was re-called for the Anaheim/Calgary series in 2006, according to TSN, but I don't remember if he sat on the bench then or not. Hockey reference only shows the goalie who played in the games, so not sure if Krahn ever did wear a Flames jersey.

I think Baertschi is out week to week, with Kiprusoff day to day.
Or was it upgraded when I wasn't looking?

Couple that with Irving sucking and there's your explanation.
Let's all move on.

I don't see Kiprusoff going anywhere. Season is too early, and we aren't out of this yet. Kipper gives us the best chance to win. MacDonald is a stop-gap measure to get some competent NHL experience in the lineup.
He'll be waived when Kipper is ready to go and go to Abby, or he'll stay with the big club as the backup for the rest of the year while Irving/Taylor handle the minors..
I don't see how this is a precursor to moving Kipper. It's just too early for that.

I don't see that anywhere in the memorandum of understanding: http://cdn.agilitycms.com/nhlpacom/P...ms-1-10-13.pdf
Ramo should still be an RFA in July because he was born one day too late. To be eligible for UFA status, a player must either be 27 years-old on June 30 or have 7 accrued seasons in the NHL. Ramo turns 27 on July 1.

J Feaster refuses to address media today to explain Joey MacDonald acquisition, fueling speculation he's trying hard to trade a g. Good luck
Sorry, just saw this posted a few pages back.

Per the post you quoted, I think Wronksian's point was that the Flames have not developed a goaltender since Mike Vernon. Brathewait, and Turek were the only somewhat competent guys between Vernon and Kiprusoff...Wregget maybe too, although a bit injury prone.
Mind you you could say this about every position....the Flames only way to get decent players seems to be signing them or trading for them. Maybe...waiver claims now too, although McDonald is at an age, where he is what he is, a fringe 2b goaltender.

Wow, this is confusing. Makes sense though, if Kipper is out longer than we all thought. Feel bad for Irving - I think he's a decent goalie.
