At least Butler will be back in the pressbox! Flames 1-0 with Butler out!

Flames had 5 days off. Av's got into Calgary at 2:30 this morning.
Pathetic performance by our 1st line.
They have no excuses.

I almost wish we had a lockout for a guaranteed decent draft spot.. Keep it up Hartley and group keep playing butler and maybes can play urself to a lottery spot.

send him to the sharks and have him on the second line. With less offensive responsibilities he can do well on a team like that. He'll be a leader where ever he goes but to expect him to do it all still in Calgary is foolish at this point.

Well one good game doesn't make him the second coming of Mario Lemieux... The guy's career high is 57 points! Do we dare hope he will continue to make such a huge, team changing, impact to the Flames?

Yeah, thats kind of how I saw the 2011-12 season going down. Defense isn't as exciting, but its the best option for a team like the Flames to pursue. Except for a few obvious Brent mistakes, but team defense is the way to go. Even Detriot plays a strong defensive system...

Speaking of old bums, Tanguay is signed through the 2016 season, pretty sure he should be in a care home by then.

Let me break this down one more time.
1. TSN predicts that we will do terribly.
2. Next year we make some moves that should improve our rank.
3. TSN ranks us even worse.
Notice a problem between step 2 and 3? Yeah, thought so. They should predict us higher. At that point it doesn't even matter where we finish. Right from there you can see the bias against the Flames. Even when we theoretically improve.
That kind of stuff affects Vegas odds which you seem to hold so precious. Understand?
|
Why are you even bitching about TSN? They are just guesses, that's why they play the games. Guess what? Where TSN ranks you has NO (zilch, nada, none) bearing on what can actually happen.
I find it really strange that you're freaking out on TSN...

Loubardias was saying this afternoon that tonights game was massive for this team and he's a positive guy. I'm pretty sure he will be talking tomorrow about this loss as devastating as it really is. There is simply no way you can sugarcoat this game. It was truly horrible and Hartley now probably realizes like the last three coaches that this Flames head coaching job is much more of an undertaking than it looks from the outside. This team has major, major issues that aren't going to be fixed until the roster gets a overhaul that includes number 12 leaving and a new player assuming the role of captain.

I'll take the latter, which is what happened tonight IMO.

The Flames need to have a higher standard then being somewhat competitive against a bad team playing their 3-game in 4-nights. This should have been a dominant game for the Flames and it wasn't. I wouldn't have been particularly thrilled even if we won this game 5-4. It wasn't good enough. The silver lining is made of tin foil and is really just another excuse on an never ending stream of them.
If this was one game then I would get the argument. But it isn't just one game.

Fact is this team actually has a very good team on paper. In theory, they should be far, far away from a last place team. And that's what seems appalling about those predictions.
Just none of our top players decided to come prepared into this 'unexpected' season, and have stunk it up early (with the odd exception of Jbo). However, that does not necessarily guarantee that that will be the case over the next 40+ games.
Basically, if Cammy and Iginla were putting up points at their normal pace and Kiprusoff was putting up his usual numbers, we wouldn't be in this boat at all.

I know I'm in the minority but I will take boring defensive hockey that produces wins over this crap all the time.

Errrr ya second paragraph made no sense. I blame stupid iPad autocorrect.
My point was, yes kipper, butler, cammaleri sucked but at the end of the day u look at the avs schedule (and injuries for that matter) and it is very indicative of the quality of this roster that flames are last place in the league or close to it.
Pretty embarrassing nite for the roster after all that rest and practice.

Keenan made the playoffs twice and Sutter missed three times. I don't understand your point.

I swear every mistake this team makes ends up in the net, and they need 4 or 5 good scoring chances for every goal they get.
They are getting way more chances to score than they ever did under the Sutters, but the will to win is not strong enough.
And the Dive-alanche were up to their usual tricks, dropping on the lightest contacts.

Late to the party, just finished on PVR. That one stings. I wish this was like EA NHL where you could take off line changes and just ride Hudler/Cervenka all game.
Whole first line sucked, especially Glencross. He was giving out turnovers like a bakery.
Kipper with a bad night, 3rd goal was downy soft. Play like that against Chicago and it'll be ugly
I suggest Butler try another sport. Like knitting.
Did I mention Hudler/Cervenka?
