As to Percy, I don't want to say this but New England is reportedly not going to re-sign Welker and let Brandon Lloyd walk. Percy on the Patriots would be ridiculous and if Welker and Lloyd are gone I expect them to be his landing spot. Belichick loves him some other teams malcontents.

Obviously, the 6 he scored on the Wonderlic might have been generous to his actual intelligence.

Ronnie Peoples, president and CEO of Peoples Financial Service Inc. in Raleigh, N.C., said during a videotaped deposition last month that he contacted New York-based Pro Player Funding LLC about the loan after being informed that Young had already paid for the party.

''I think we still would have been OK to go ahead and survive until the next season, but he had a birthday event coming up that he paid 300 and some thousand dollars for,'' Peoples testified. ''That's what prompted that call.''

it amazes me that NFL teams dont put more stock into intelligence, they are so wowed by the athleticism, doesnt seem to matter if they are dumb as dirt. see Jamarcus as well for an example

I think that should certainly be a consideration when it comes to certain positions like QB or the defensive play caller. However, Frank Gore also score (IIRC) a 6 on the Wonderlic, was considered by some at the time to be borderline ######ed and he's done well for himself.

like you say some positions require more intelligence, with a RB it is a lot of instinct. with a QB, he cant be borderline ######ed like Vince Young or Jamarcus Russell. didnt realize Gore scored so badly. how do you only score a 6?

Just didn't fit in the 3-4. One of the best defensive players to ever wear the blue and white. He'll get picked up somewhere with a big deal.

They do that regularly and are never down for more than a season, if at all.

The Steelers are the best managed team in the NFL. They already have replacements for all of those players on the roster or through this coming draft.

After doing some reading/watching video of Arthur Brown he is the guy I want. I'm sure his name is going to be brought up a lot come the combine in two weeks. The guy lacks some size, but he makes up for it in speed, instincts and leadership I think a fair comparison for him could be Daryl Washington. Also, I think he is the most complete and talented LB in this draft class.

Alec Ogletree is one awesome dude doing something really awesome leading up to the one if not the most important time in his life to determine his future for the next 4-5 years....

Alec Ogletree, the former Georgia linebacker and a likely first-round pick in April's NFL draft, was arrested earlier this month for DUI, his agent told Profootballtalk.com.

"Last weekend, my client Alec Ogletree was pulled over for speeding and a lane violation in Arizona," agent Pat Dye told the website. "After the officers smelled alcohol, they conducted tests and also cited him for DUI. Although Alec regrets this incident terribly, he is thankful that there was no accident and that no one was hurt. Because this matter is still pending, we cannot comment further publicly at this time."

If you have ever watched the Combine or have friends that watch it, you know that the 40-yard dash and the weight-lifting competition typically steal the headlines, but there is more to dictating success in the NFL, than just straight-line speed and strength. The 3-Cone drill is one of the major ways that NFL scouts learn how athletic and coordinated rookie prospects truly are. The drill is a good indicator of strong pass rushers, elite cornerbacks, great route runners, and running backs with tremendous shiftiness.

According to BodyBuilding.com, linemen must get a 7.5 or lower. They consider 7.3 or lower elite for lineman. For pass rushing linebackers, they want players below 7.0. For wide receivers and defensive backs, the website says they should be between 6.6 and 6.7.

Yeah, the 40 yard dash really doesn't come into play that often in game situations. Pretty much applies to a WR getting a go route without any contact at the line. Whereas the 3 cone drill, that's happening in multiple places on every single play with numerous players running some form of that drill. Ultimately footwork seems to be the number one skill in football, and agility is right with it, regarless of what position the player is playing.

Hopefully Alfonzo Denard enjoyed his year last season, could be his last in the NFL

Patriots cornerback Alfonzo Dennard could be sentenced to up to six years in prison after he was convicted today of third-degree assault on a police officer, a felony.

A jury in Nebraska began deliberating on Tuesday afternoon and announced its verdict this morning, Lori Pilger of the Lincoln Journal Star reports. In addition to the felony assault charge, Dennard was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. He was acquitted on a misdemeanor charge of assaulting another man.
