Kobe's had his second straight game with 14 assist and has only taken 20 shots in those two games combined and the Lakers beat the Thunder. Who the hell is that guy wearing #24?

Depends what they decide to do. There are rumors of them trading Pierce etc. and doing a rebuild. Or they could just trade for another PG and take a last crack at it.

Why don't they trade Pierce and Garnett to a Kevin McHale's team just like last time?

Kevin Garnett: 1st player in NBA history with 25,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, 5,000 assists, 1,500 blocks and 1,500 steals.

Looks like I'm eating my own words so far for saying Boston's season was likely over with Rajon Rando out for the year, they are 6-0 without him in the lineup.

^ I don't think you're alone in that. Bill Simmons loves the Ewing theory and this is a pretty good example of that. Especially since they were in a tailspin when Rondo got hurt.

Just to show how overrated Kobe is, or underrated LeBron is, since 2003 LeBron has scored 86 more total points than Kobe....on 525 fewer shots. Might be the most insane stat I've ever heard.

The definition of scoring by volume shooting in BBall is - Kobe.

Kobe is one of my favorite all-time players but Lebron right now could quite possibly be better than he has ever been. He'll pass up Kobe on the all time scoring list taking fewer shots and in less time. Also i believe Kobe is only 600 or so missed shots away from becoming the NBA's all-time leader in most missed shots. Not to knock on Kobe either, he's a great player as well, but the numbers don't lie. The whole Kobe vs. Lebron debate is pointless pretty much. They never even had an on court rivalry and off the court they are friends. The fans and the media has pretty much created the rivalry. In my lifetime of watching basketball, they are both the greatest players i have ever seen.

I think the colours look ugly, but moreso it's the slanted logo and name which kinda kills it. If you have a sharper set of team colours, it would look much better, but good on them for trying something a little different. The other problem with it? How would the less-than-trim players look in it? lol

Unlike any other sport the NBA is all about the rings, since all the best players have have won multiple rings. So really LeBron won't completely enter this discussion until he wins 3+ titles.

People keep talking trash about Kobe and his last few years, well the guy is obviously past his prime, so of course his stats aren't going to be as LeBron's (who is in his prime). It's a pretty stupid comparison to make when age is factored in. Let's see if LeBron can put up the same stats now in 8 years (won't happen).

But really even James knows he won't be become one of the true greats of all time without winning more rings. Russell has 13, Abdul-Jabbar has 6, Jordan has 6, Pippen has 6, Cousy has 6, Johnson has 5, Bryant has 5, Duncan has 4, O'Neal has 4, Bird has 3, Chamberlain has 2, Havlicek has 6, and a bunch of others have at least one. If LeBron wants to pass the Karl Malone's and Charles Barkely's of the world he neesd 3+ titles imo.

And don't give me the crap about James playing on bad teams in Cleveland, that may have been true the first couple years, but not the last few. He was allowed to act as GM and bring in whoever he wanted to Cleveland. Then compare his castmates to Kobe's Lakers at the same time (who won two titles), and you won't see that much difference.

I won't argue that James is likely the better player (even if you compared their prime years), as the guy is just so physically dominant, but Kobe is still the greater legend for at least the near future.

The Laker teams that Kobe won with after Shaq were miles better than the garbage that Lebron played with in Cleveland. There isn't a player that comes close to Gasol on those Cleveland teams.

Switch Lebron and Kobe and the Lakers easily win those titles and Cleveland doesn't come close to reaching the finals.

I agree that the Shaq teams were far better, but I don't think the two titles Kobe won with Gasol were that much better than the Cleveland teams James had during his final few years with the Cavs.

Here are the Cavaliers' rosters from the 2009 and 2010 playoff runs:
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2009.html
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/2010.html

Then here were the rosters of the back-to-back Lakers title teams
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/LAL/2009.html
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/LAL/2010.html

Sure there may not have been someone equal to Gasol, but there were some really nice players on both teams (and once again James was a primary factor in choosing the players around him). I really don't think those Lakers championship winning teams were that much better than James' Cavs at the time.

I guess we will have to disagree as I see Gasol and Odom as better than anything on the Cavs team in 09 and Gasol, Odom and Bynum as better than anything on the Cavs 10 team. When you consider how much better Gasol is than anything on the Cavs it really seems like no contest in terms of the quality of teams. The 4-7 spots aren;t great for either but having those other stars to help out makes a big difference for the Kobe teams over the Lebron teams.

Can't believe nobody's posted it yet, but incase you haven't heard, Hedo Turkoglu's been suspended 20 games for steroid use. It couldn't have happened to a better guy. Ever since getting the crazy contract he's been a lazy f---, looking to take the easy road. I'm glad it's costing him a pretty penny.

What a shocker and terrible news at the same time.

Quote:
Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss is hospitalized, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation.

A Lakers spokesman declined to comment on the situation out of respect for the families' privacy. A hospital spokesman wouldn't confirm whether Buss was at the hospital.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Buss, 79, has an undisclosed form of cancer. The paper said he has spent time in the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, citing "multiple team personnel."

Jordan says he'd take Kobe over Lebron:

Five beats one every time I look at it. And not that (James) won't get five. He may get more than that, but five is bigger than one.

Jordan was a great player, but as an executive he's always been an utter failure. I wouldn't say his choice is wrong, but his evaluation of talent is bottom of the barrel, so I wouldn't put much stock into anything he says.

Not to mention he's just going by rings. If that was the case, then Bill Russell is better than him. Not saying his choice is bad, you can't go wrong with either or IMO.
