The stadium looks great on TV. I couldn't imagine playing a game in Houston in the summer. As I understand it, the stadium is completely enclosed, no breezeways.

So jealous of BBVA Compass Stadium. It has the modern look but that intimate feel you get from say a White Hart Lane, Loftus Road, Craven Cottage etc. League is looking great with all these new stadiums (RBA, PPL, Livestrong, BBVA) with San Jose getting one next. I think TFC and MLSE really dropped to ball (shocker, I know). BMO looks awful for such a new stadium. Could have easily been one of the class venues of MLS.
I know it won't happen for a long time but I really hope that one day, "relatively" soon, that the Whitecaps can find a way to make the Waterfront Stadium happen. I have no doubt that it would become the crown jewel of MLS with the view of the North Shore Mountains and proper design. And I know management will know exactly what the stadium would need to be the best in MLS.
Poor showing from the Caps in the first leg tonight. Refs were horrid but that can't be used as an excuse for their brutal play in the middle.
Lucky to get away with the draw after a wonder strike from Eric Hassli. Say what you will about the talent level in the MLS, that was world class skill on that goal.
Speaking of Hassli, the guy has been on a roll lately after a shaky start and Rennie starts Etienne ahead of him in a huge game? I don't get it. Etienne looked good in his previous games, but with a game on this magnitude and a star DP on the bench? Brutal.
Disappointing crowd at BC Place tonight. When the teams walked on the field for the opening ceremony stuff, it was embarassing. I'd be surprised if there were more than 5000 people in the seats.

Burns me so bad that we spent $359 million upgrading BC Place the concrete sinkhole when Kerfoot was going to build the Waterfront Soccer specific stadium entirely out of his own pocket.
Instead BC spends a ridiculous amount of money upgrading a stadium no one likes for a team proposing to pay for their own stadium and another one (the Lions) who have all their fans out in Delta/Maple Ridge/Abby etc anyway...

Referee was beyond terrible. Cann slips and falls with Hassli a good 3-4 feet away and Hassli gets called for a foul. But you're right, Caps were very poor tonight, and we can't fault the referees.
The midfield is hideous without Chiumiento and Koffie. We need Robson soon. He probably won't be a saviour but he will help with depth.
Martin Rennie has certainly made some questionable squad decisions these last two days. I know it's our biggest stretch of the year but at least it's shown where we need improvement. We need at least one more depth CB and one more competent MF beyond Robson. Unfortunately we're at our 30 player limit (although we can easily waive someone like Boxall) and who knows how much cap space we have.
I'm hoping for a definitive Whitecaps win so all hell can break loose with Toronto. I don't dislike Toronto FC - quite the opposite actually as I casually follow all of the Canadian teams - but a big loss in the Canadian Championship might clear the way for some big changes.
They dominated for stretches and badly out-chanced Vancouver. Both teams got away with things in their own boxes, Vancouver with a few more though. Deguz's slap was just silly, but the dive was even worse. Whitecaps coach called it a punch? Gimme a break.
I just wish some of this carried over into the MLS regular season.
Also in TFC news, former Portuguese international and veteran of Arsenal, Fulham and West Ham, Luis Boa Morte is on trial with TFC. Will be interesting to see if TFC sign the 34 year old to shake things up a bit.
Brutal effort from the Caps. Not one player had a good game. So disappointing. They're now winless in 4 and go from Toronto to Portland this Saturday. Need a win as they don't play for 2 weeks after Saturday.
Doesn't look very goot that a team that is 0-9 can win the Canadian Championship, but here we are. I'm a little disappointed we won't see a new team represent Canada but that's how it works with a 4 team competition
What did everyone think of the competition this year? I wasn't as excited about it as I was last year, and that's despite going to the game in Edmonton

It sounds like they are going to revamp the competition next year. I wouldn't mind seeing a memorial cup kinda format, and get every team playing each other.

I heard it would be a knock out competition rather than a round robin. Would suck for Edmonton, or other NASL teams (Ottawa) as they would not get to host an MLS team at any point.
