Crazy inflow winds when I was downtown earlier, thought it was going to explode then it just collapsed. We got a lot of marble sized hail at my house. A couple of potential funnels but no confirmed touchdowns out of this stuff.
Nothing to see here.

yeah i came home for lunch around 2 or so today and it couldnt have been 10 minutes later i noticed how friggin dark it had gotten all of a sudden and it had been scorching hot so i had a feeling something was brewing....1 minute later I could barely see my car out of the window 8 feet away...i have seen rain sideways before during the hurricanes of 04, but this time it was hail at almost 45 degrees...lasted about 8 minutes or so. really wild to see.
Finished luch went back to my car to head downtown and realized i had left my window cracked about 1 1/2"....car was drenched.

Joplin death toll is now at 153 as people get added to the missing list and some succumb to injuries from the storm.
Right now there is a rare fungal infection that people injured are picking up if the wound was not cleaned properly.

Things are still slow, places are still piles of ruble just like the storm came through yesterday. The city is really working people over, basically they're with holding the electric company to put new poles up and restore power so they can buy the land under emanate domain. Then the small business owners that were destroyed just cant build their stores back, they have to basically do things a certain way, like they couldn't just build the same exact building before the storm but up to code.
Rumors are that the University and the city have plans on putting more strip malls and condo's for the rich kids. It's a real shame those who lost everything are basically working them over.

Somewhat related but there was damn near the closest thing to a funnel cloud I've ever seen in Calgary about half and hour ago. At one point before I ran for my camera the part that was rotating appeared to have some vapour forming between it and the ground around the Westhills area. Here is a shot I got right after when I ran to get the camera:

There was definitely no tornado touchdown in the Aspen Hills area, I had a clear view over there from my place. Like I said, at one point there seemed to be a rotating white vapour between the dropped section of cloud, but not anything close enough to make it a tornado. It lasted all of 10 seconds.

The thunder earlier in the NW was some of the nastiest I've heard in a while, but the clouds were moving pretty faced and it cleared quickly. Just brutally loud thunder though.

Holy crap. My sister lives in Aspen. Just talked to her. She says part of her condo's roof got blown off and fences etc are all destroyed. The place is a mess. She's not sure if she's allowed back in her building.

Not what my sources are reporting, smashed windows and ripped out shingles. One guy on my street is missing his patio furniture.
I also just received a clear photo of what i think is a tornado, but not touched town.

Couple friends on Facebook posting saying there was construction debris flying around everywhere..... if it wasn't a tornado it was pretty damn close!

I'm just reporting what I saw, perhaps that vortex forming was enough to throw some debris around and smash stuff up without it being a tornado proper?
Downbursts and microbursts could account for some serious wind that could have caused that damage too.

I guess the roof actually got taken off part of her building...and there's insulation all over the place. Looks like it snowed she says.
