I bet there were people just as 'HYPED' about ROBBIE Schremp...We'll see how this one turns out but save the "back patting" for now
Just curious why you feel the need to be a jerk. You are consistent in your "jerkness". Almost every post you make is negative towards the Flames/Flames fans.
I think somebody needs a hug...or a massive punch in the face. One of the two.
BTW, Johnny Gaudreau is going to be a franchise player for this team. So, in the future, you can suck on that.
Settle down, give it some time.

Or a banning.

He certainly has some slick skills and excellent hockey sense. If he fills out into a solid frame for his height I think he'll be big threat for us in the future:

A perfect example of the type of players the Flames are drafting.
One has a good head on his shoulders and is very humble, while the other was a "me first" hotdog with a very selfish attitude.
Anyone that even thinks the two are even remotely comparable has no clue what they're talking about.
Beyond that if I recall, his stats were inflated from being played a ridiculous amount. He was also dominating his competition due to his puck handling skills and had questionable hockey IQ to make up for his deficiencies.
and where did that lead us? The two most important aspects of puck are hockey sense and skating. Look at SB.
Oh I agree, I am so glad that we seem to have a different philosophy now. That was a tongue in cheek post about how our old hockey people loved big lumbering wingers with limited to no scoring touch.

I'm excited about Gaudreau, but we can' probably reign in a little of the 'franchise player' talk for a bit.
It's such a long hard slog to get to that point. So many things can happen. Let's not set ourselves up for disappointment and potentially turn him into a whipping boy if he's just an average NHLer.

Easily one of the best highlight packages for one player I have ever seen, that second goal where he kicked the puck to his stick then went inside out and finished backhand was insane. Kid is legit.

and to top it off the timing of that goal couldn't have been better, that game had turned into a goaltenders dual where a bad bounce could have cost the Eagles the National Championship but Johnny secured the Championship with it. Such a great game to watch.

Some great goals there. Looks like he's got that far side top corner shot down.

Who cares if someone wants to build him up and set themselves up for disappointment? It's not like some crushing blow for one's psyche if a prospect flounders.

we all suffer when this happens. Look at Bouwmeester, I am not too sure what people expected but I get the impression they expected an offensive stud and now he is called garbage by a great number of fans. Over the top expectations are not good.

That video is awesome!
I wanted to point out that on the first goal, that is Flames prospect Bill Arnold who is being hauled down and yet completes the pass to Gaudreau for the goal. It is a shame that Arnold isn't in town for the camp; He is probably being overlooked amid some of the really good performances this past week, despite the fact that he is probably closer to the NHL than most of the prospects here.

Did someone - or anyone - call him a franchise player?

To be fair, JKK's over-the-top projection was in response to stacey's possibly more idiotic comparison between Gaudreau and Schremp. I think that it is probably accurate to claim that Gaudreau is still a boom-or-bust pick: If he makes the NHL, he will be a star, and is almost certain to only play in the League as a high-impact top-six forward. He will likely never be big enough or strong enough to carve out a career as a two-way forward or a checker.
But the way that he has handled himself against higher-level competition this past year should give Flames fans high hopes of him reaching this potential. He was a star player at BC in his rookie season. That alone is a pretty spectacular accomplishment. Had he dominated in another programme would not have been nearly as impressive; to be one or two of the best players for the national championship team—and the best NCAA team by a country mile—as a 5'6" rookie is huge.

That highlight video was great. Guy can pick himself a damn top corner and also is a total opportunist. Makes the D pay quickly for mistakes. Very happy he is in the Flames system!
I am sure he will not be as dominant in the NHL as he has been in College (if he makes the NHL), but then again, I probably would have sounded smart if I said he would not be as dominant in College as he had been in Dubuqe.
