I wonder if Beck gets an ATO now.
If not, I'm guessing he gets signed to an ELC before June 1.

Is Beck worthy of a contract? The guy seems to struggle with staying healthy. I look at the 2021 draft class and wonder how many more are likely to get contracts? I can't see Whynot or Jordon getting contract offers. Huckins is also kind of on the edge. Fortunately Sergeev is in the college ranks and the team has time there, but the other four guys are big question marks IMO. The lack of depth in the system may provide a window, but do they really deserve pro contracts at this point? Is the potential there worth making an investment in?

That was the Covid Year draft..... picks are all over the dartboard.
Someone who watches Beck, Huckins, et al might be more knowledgable.

I kind of hope Parker Bell gets signed. He was the top scoring forward in Tri-Cities this year and is a big player. For a physically mature player, there probably isn't much value in going back to junior just to tear it up as an overaged player against mostly smaller players.

I think Huckins and Beck earned ELC’s, based off the merits of their play on the ice, but there’s other mitigating circumstances with both of them. Beck has an injury history, and would likely need a season in the ECHL to continue to bulk up- I think that’s half the battle when it comes to him getting hurt. Huckins was suspended last year from his junior team, and nobody seems to know why. He came back, but was traded to Sherbrooke. Now, I’m sure if whatever happened was worthy of him getting “cancelled”, it would have happened already, but it might be enough to make the Flames pass on him. He had a good season though, playing behind guys on a stacked team. Just my take.

Got a chance to watch Huckins and Whynot do battle last night. They both looked good but Huckins looks like he has the higher ceiling. The kid has size, speed and strong offensive awareness. His centre is an absolute monster (large dman sized) which does give Huckins more room so I’d be curious to see how he plays with a smaller guy up the middle.

The CHL prospects are largely mid to late round picks. The best prospects are in the AHL. Though the '21 draft, outside of Coronato is not looking good. So that coupled with a complete lack of picks in '22 is going to create a gap in the pipeline for sure.
They should add a couple of good prospects this summer.
