My son said it hailed in Hawkwood too, nothing in Tuscany however. Just some rain.

It was very intense east of there between 3 and 3:30. Windshield wipers at full speed barely keeping up.

I hit a good window Saturday afternoon. It just started spitting when I was packing things up. Lawn looks fantastic thanks to this Vancouver weather.

I top dressed and overseeded a few days before the GreatRains (c). Which is fantastic as the lawn is doing gangbusters - however the nice topdressed soil and sprouted seeds are too soft to mow when damp at all, so until we get 2+ dry days in a row - I have a giant lush green jungle.

These semi-daily rains can go f themselves. Either be a rainy day or a nice day. This current weather is worse than a full rainy day.

Yeah, I did, too, but I think I went too light on the top dressing loam and too crazy on the seeds. Not seeing as much action as I'd like at this point. Guess I fataed up.

That's what I was able to grow from seed so far, it's been about two weeks. East facing and partial shade.

Going to seed again and see how it goes in two more weeks.

Speaking of grass seed, I bought some a few years ago and used something like 25% of the bag. I was thinking of using it again this year, but it said on the bag I shouldn't use it again if it's been open for a while. Thoughts? I don't want to throw out perfectly good seed, but I don't want to waste my time on seed that isn't good anymore.

Is there really an expiry on grass seed (it's the coated type).

Probably just a cover-their-ass statement so you can't complain if it doesn't grow... I mean eventually it probably won't grow, but I'd probably just try it. Worst case it's more compost you give your lawn to help the 2nd attempt at seeding.

I think where/temp the seeds were stored is more important then the time frame

Left in the shed for two years, so it has gone through two winters. Probably best to buy new then?

Throw some soil in a plastic cup with the seeds and water a few times per day. within a day or two you will see some growth

Huh - so simple to test out I guess. Not sure why I didn't think of that.

Thanks!

So far this June seems to be fairly similar to June 2020. Hopefully July and August are a repeat of that year also; that was the perfect summer.

Just rain a few more times to close out the month, and then rest of summer be hot, sunny, and smoke-free.
