It’s not hard to understand why the UCP were elected.
People have a belief that it was conservative values (whether fiscal or social) that led to Alberta’s prosperity. They neglect to realize that it was oil revenues that has led to high incomes, low taxes, and excellent public services and that we were never fiscally conservative.
So people have been trained to believe that conservatism means prosperity. It’s an emotional response not a logical response.
So yes people are dumb but calling them dumb won’t change their minds.

Tiny niggle on one point; oil revenues. A good deal of true blue types completely understand that it was oil revenues that led to our high incomes, low taxes, and so on and so forth. That is not lost on them at all. I have a close friend who works in O&G, is smart as hell, but reliably votes conservative all for that one single issue.
The problem is they also see conservatives as the only ones fighting for oil and gas. This is obviously false when you look at the provincial parties because both the NDP and UCP are in favour of it, but the UCP just makes way more noise about it. Nenshi needs to be louder. Smith may be an imbecile, but she is constantly making noise to anyone who will put a microphone in front of her, and she'll bring her own for good measure.

Essentially a poorly educated electorate. Almost like continually lying to people works wonders.

UCP really know how to create barriers to get vaccinated hey? 12 and under have to call 811 to book an appointment, except that 811 just says no one is available and hangs up.
Maybe if I pray to God, the phone at 811 will answer? What a stupid government. Nice work all you people who asked for this crap.
I booked our son an appointment online, even though he isn't old enough because this is absolutely stupid.
#### you UCP and it's supporters.

Huh, seems like people can pre-order up to 9 of each of the vaccine types. Not sure why anyone would want to do that but sure seems interesting.

I had typed a whole hypothetical on why people should do it, but then figured anyone who sees this as the complete boondoggle it is had already noticed that as well. It isn't like the doses get allocated specifically to a person/family.

The thing is - is there party in Alberta really fighting against oil and gas? Or is one saying "let's have intlligent policies" versus "anything oil and gas does is good". Lots of Albertans just do the latter.
Is there any other industry who have people with "I love X industry" stickers? Not supporting the people (like teachers or cops or troops). But the industry. Imagine car window stickers saying "I love the accounting industry" or "I love appliance dealerships".

That's kind of my point, they're drawing false equivalence between enthusiasm for O&G and capability to secure the province's O&G industry's economic fortunes. The UCP is much, much louder... they're also pretty ineffective at achieving it, but as this province has shown for the last fifty years, just one more conservative government and we'll crack it! Obviously it was the one NDP term that is why we're stuck where we are.
The AB NDP need to recognize that political game and neutralize it. UCP releases some soundbite about O&G, NDP need to be right there saying basically the same thing but while sounding like the adults who actually know how to play nicely with others to get what they want. But really, I just want Nenshi to be louder and more prevalent. When we hear from Carney, you know you're gonna hear from Poilievre. If we hear from Smith, Nenshi has got to make sure the AB NDP's point of view is represented loudly.

That's actually the UCP's new motto.

The NDP should have signs and people outside polling stations mocking the long lines and counting delays being caused by the UCP bowing to conspiracy theorists. They could have made a good campaign out of it.
