Both concepts are strange to me. I can't fathom having a family holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas etc.) with strangers or in a party atmosphere, just seems weird. At the same time both my wife and I do not have immediate family in Calgary, or anywhere we've lived for that matter so we're not used to large amounts of family at these gatherings either. Occasionally my mom or my aunt/uncle come but it's really usually only them at the most. We're used to just our immediate family for most holidays (wife, kids, and myself). The past few years when the kids were in university we would invite some of their friends over if they were alone in Calgary but that's been the extent of it.
My family is big on huge dinners for events like that, typically inviting lots of friends. It’s fun and all. But as I am more of an introvert, I’d really prefer a small group so I can catch up with my family and relax. Instead, they are exhausting events.

Random occurrence. Went to the respiratory technologist to get a cpap. He had a student with him. Nice guy but with hair that stood up about 6 inches. Whatevs.
Get home and told my daughter about his hair. She laughed, is he tall? Asian? I said yep.
It turns out he is her spin class instructor. Small world. But I wouldn't want to paint it.
I've significantly altered the way that I read CP.
I've identified one Yoho (og), one yoho wannabe, two left yohos and one poster that is offended by everything, but is of unknown affiliation, the wildcard yoho.
I've distilled them all down to a British sitcom in my head, so whatever they say doesn't really bother me that much. The only request that I would have is for og yoho to summarize or comment on their own posts, as I don't click links, generally.
Just headlines is bad sitcom writing.
The result is that I don't really dislike any posters regardless of content, and can still get my news here without negativity, which is the best CP.

Lol! I like how you classify everything using 'Yoho' as a Unit of Measurement.
Just be careful, the Americans might adopt it!

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Not to worry, I'm sure we can get some Turkish eye drops in April if our stocks run low.
My son has been waking up for the last two nights yelling at night every few hours that both his eyes are in a lot of pain and he wants a hot compress for it. Taking him to the doctor today to check it out.
It doesn't look like full blown conjunctivitis yet. Slight pinkish below the eyes and maybe a little more discharge around the eyes, but not too much nor crusty which is the usual indicator. Not sure if there's something irritating his eye such as an allergen, but hoping it's closer to that.
On top of the craziest ####ing "non-covid" illness that's been bouncing in my household ("Bronchitis", but I'm not convinced)... I'm exhausted from this constant disruption to sleep and I'm mulling out loud I hope it doesn't get worse.
Your belongings might be covered under home insurance while moving. So you may want to ask your provider if you have that coverage and whether if you ship your PC and refuse the postal insurance, whether this can be covered under your home insurance as a claim if something were to go missing. I assume there's specific criteria you must maintain such as tracking of the shipment or through specific moving services or something.
If I may ask, it seems like from your posts here that your move has been done in really piecemeal stages. Why not just get a Uhaul trailer or something and do it all in one go?

Yeah. I took a package with my company back in.. jeez, June? I cant even remember. But my final day at my work is oct 27th, non negotiable. We sold our house in August, and my family moved in with my wifes parents July after we cleared out the home for the sale (so they could start school in Sydney). I've been living in Calgary with my Dad and working from his house since the summer. Piecemeal is absolutely how I'd describe it, but it couldn't be helped.

You know you're getting old and lame when after a rare night of hard drinking where you kinda brown out, you discover the next day you signed up for an annual National Geographic subscription at 3 AM lol

Lol!
So...I didnt do that, but when I started my own office my wife thought it would be a good idea to get a magazine subscription.
I'd never had one so I didnt really know, but Tax Season is only 3 months long so she signed me up for a 3 month Sports Illustrated subscription.
Never. Again.
They sent me magazines for almost 5 years.
I wasnt paying them, I even repeatedly asked them to stop. I did not want them anymore! But nope.
And Sports Illustrated...my God...as someone who couldnt care less about Football, Basketball, NASCAR or Baseball that magazine SUCKS.
Even though I just bought them for clients who had to wait a bit.
I'd way rather have had National Geographic. At least some of that is educational and interesting.
Yeah, thats right...I'd much rather read about some ancient lost tribe in the Amazon than whoever turned left longest and fastest.
