I don't think I ever offered any thoughts on the Aziz case.

Sorry but this is a great take!

It seems like some of this is spilling over from Sliver’s deep-seated feelings about ratings and reviews.

What is the fall out at this point?

I like how she says fear will not change things. Guys should not be creeps for fear of being called on it but because they should have empathy towards women and understand how their actions affect them.
I’m so thankful for my female friends who taught me early that groping and cat-calling aren’t the way into a woman’s heart. I’ve learned even more since then, and I’m still learning. I like sex as much as any guy but i never feel the need to coerce anyone into it. I don’t see them as conquests like many men do.
Be less ####ty and you’ll get laid just as much, I assure you.

Butler, as a bonafide rock star, could presumably get laid as much as he wants. The strange thing about this story is how desperate he comes across. His behaviour is decidedly un-rock star like. He's acting like people I know, who are desperate for attention. The kind of guys my female friends all laugh at, with the constant text messages and unsolicited dick pics. BTW, when you send unsolicited dick pics girls definitely pass them around for the purpose of comedy.
Maybe Butler just has such low self esteem that when someone tells him no, it throws him into some kind of tailspin of awful behaviour.

This whole story is infuriating: https://www.macleans.ca/longforms/mo...calgary-abuse/ -- A Calgary Junior High School teacher who sexually abused numerous students over multiple years, while the school and ATA seemingly protected him and ignored multiple complaints from students, parents, and other teachers.
When this story finally broke in early 2021, he fled to a vacation home he owned on Vancouver Island and killed himself.
It hits close to home for me because he was my math teacher in grade 9. Although, based on the information that has come out, it appears he didn't start the worst of his behaviour until a couple years after I had left the school.
As the story says, he was the young cool teacher in a school where there weren't a lot of young teachers or male teachers at the time. Based on his age when he died, he was only about 10 years older than me, so he would have been about 24 or 25 when he was my teacher.
He was the fun teacher who would joke around in class, but I never witnessed some of the more WTF stuff that's mentioned in the story. As he got away with stuff, he likely became more brazen, where he was only in his second year teaching when I was in his class.
Reading the story made me sick to my stomach and also seeing his stupid face in the yearbook photos. It's absolutely disgusting that he was able to get away with what he did for as long as he did.

My experience working with youth as sexual abuse became more commonly aware in society and cracked down on in the 80's and 90's was that heterosexual abuse wasn't taken as seriously and largely ignored in a way that male on male abuse wasn't.
I caught a female abuser who was sleeping with, even living with teenage boys back in the 90's at a large youth center, she was just asked to resign, she then applied to the same non-profit I worked at looking to become a foster parent and I shut that down as well but no one was interested in charging her despite my pleas

I think when I was in school there were always rumors of relationships between teachers and students.
We had one cool gym teacher that every one liked, he encouraged my to take part in multiple Terry Fox runs, every one seemed to like him.
Then he was arrested and jailed for having multiple affairs with girls under the age of 15.
But when I went to school in the 80's it feels like a lot of these teacher student affairs were ignored, or um disciplined internally, with the teacher leaving to go teach elsewhere.

He raped those girls. He did not have affairs with them. He groomed them and raped them because they were not old enough to form consent. Sorry, this is my biggest pet peeve about statutory rape. When it gets reported as "affairs" that it softens the perception of the crime.

I am curious, if a woman sends pics of her boobs to a guy do you consider that also sexual harrassment? And before someone goes there, no I am not defending a guy sending dick pics, I have no idea what makes a guy think a woman wants pics of his junk.

Obviously Jiri can chime in with their own thoughts, but I believe one of the bigger issues is that men and women are not playing the same game. If I'm on a date with a woman but I'm not fully into it and she sends a photo to me, I'm not going to have to do the mental calculus of escaping the situation safely.
The imbalance in safety means unsolicited pics mean different things to different people. What's flirty and fun for some can be a highly uncomfortable dominance display to others.

Wow. He was my teacher for one class at John Ware. I had no idea. I didn't see or hear anything from him. This happened a little after my time there.
There was another teacher at the school that gave off serious creep vibes that I keep expecting to see show up in one of these reports.

That is fair for that situation but what about when a dude sends a dick pic to try and make a girl interested. If that is sexual harrassment is a woman sending an unsolicited pic of her breasts not the same or is that different?

Just followed a link on Reddit and read this story about Michael Gregory, Calgary teacher accused of grooming and abusing potentially hundreds of students in SW Calgary starting in the late 80s. Horrific that he was able to get away with it for so long
