And there would be a metric #### ton of offers for him.
Edmonton needs him more than we do and have more assets to offer. Dallas would be desperate too

Maybe the Flames can snag a decent D prospect by taking on the last two years of Bryan Bickell's contract. ($4,000,000 per)
One of our seconds for Bickell plus one of these guys maybe?
Michael Paliotta
Stephen Johns
Ville Pokka
All young RHD.

100%. Adds size, but the overpayment comes off when it needs too. Helps both teams. Would be a smart move in my eyes.

Haha yeap. 2nd year of a 4 year deal.
He got it after his stellar playoffs two seasons ago when the Hawks last won the Cup. (17 points in 23 games)

Forget Sharp - I want Hossa. All that guy does is go to Stanley Cup finals!

### - Case point why I don't want us chasing Belesky
Belesky will get more then 4mil to boot, can almost guarantee someone will overpay (Edmonton?)

I would welcome Belesky at anything under $4M per and 5 years. He hits and has a decent scoring touch.

I don't think Saad is one of those guys though.

I think they have even come out to say that Saad will be a priority.

I would say the oilers would give him that and he will never play another playoff game again. But I don't think they have the cap space

I'm pretty sure even if he gets traded, it's Chicago that is stuck with the recapture penalties.

Belesky was an opportunistic scorer in the playoffs and had a career regular season with 32 points. 24 points the year before that, and was not a big scorer in juniors (overage year pretty good but expected).
Someone is going to lose their minds, hand him a big contract and be filled with regret for the next 4 years. Sure hope it is not the Flames.

I thought both teams faces penalties of varying degrees with those contracts?

I would pass on him. This was his first year where he actually went .5 PPG.

Oilers have a ton of cap space. But it would be very surprising for them to sign a UFA forward this year.

It can, and it would in Hossa's case if he played 2 years or less for a team that traded for him now. However, it would be a tiny penalty if he played 2 years. If he played 3 or more, then no penalty at all for the team that trades for him.
Huge penalty for Chicago though, if he retires before the end of the contract.

I wouldn't say they have a ton. About $20M, and they need a starting goalie, at least 3 defensemen and a couple forwards. With the going rate of decent defensemen always on the rise, they are going to be tight to the cap by puck drop in October.
