Lol absolutely. Here it is in all it's glory from 2014:

Smith Not Impressed With New Plates "Political Agenda"

Quote:
Highwood MLA Danielle Smith is no fan of Alberta's proposed new license plates.

She supports the new reflective paint job, but not changing the slogan at the bottom from "Wild Rose Country."

She says it's more PC political nonsense.

"All of a sudden this comes out in the middle of the summer, in the middle of a leadership race, taking off the Wild Rose slogan. It's clearly political. People have seen through it. They are outraged and responding in massive numbers. We have a poll going with six thousand respondents so far, most of which, about 70-percent who say keep the Wild Rose slogan."

She says the province would have been better off asking us if we wanted to change the plates in the first place, as well as if we wanted to change the slogan, before moving ahead on their own.
####ing hilarious. What a damn joke. ####ing hell.

What, she's a hypocrite too, now? Will the character flaws never end? That's it, I'm sold. Make her Governor for life.

Why isn't the license plate just a QR code or something. Also why do I have to keep paying $120 a year in this bizarre cat and mouse scheme to basically retain a record in a database. should cost $0.04 a year.

Also, why can I not just login to see my cars. I wake up in the middle of night wondering when my registration ends because I didn't want to sign up with he shady registry for reminders? It's a completely unnecessary industry the registries.

The best part is that with online renewals, everything is handled digitally by the Alberta government, but you still need to select a physical location to receive their cut of the transaction because of whatever deal we have with the registries.

I'm pretty sure I'm driving bareback now. No idea when it expires. I'm going to the registry now because I'm triggered.

It's because a certain premier who was lauded as a financial genius sold off the registries (along with other public assets) to get the province debt free.

Wasn’t there a redesign over a decade ago that got cancelled?
Are the letters and numbers supposed to be high contrast against the background for visibility? Or will any background do?
How are these not a joke? AI can make better designs than this in moments. Did someone pay their 14 year old to put these together?

How come none of the options dont have the stupid "Strong and free"?

Probably a good idea if fataing over taxpayers for negative gain was the performance measure. Makes some cash to get re-elected an we take it up the hoop forever more.

It seems to me it was scheduled the same day as the planned release of a certain report that could be highly revealing of the malfeasance of their governance. Now the news stories are about a stupid distraction, instead of filling these days between the report's release to government, and the govenrment releasing it. There is now less pressure than their should be to turn this over. I wouldn't be surprised if they sit on it for another week. Who knows, we may never actually see more than a government provided summary, which would wash anything damning away.

The release of their investigation of themselves (eventually) will surely be completely above board and free from them editorializing what the report says /s

Reminder there is still an RCMP investigation going on and one by the Auditor General as well.

You know the expiry date is on the registration paper you are required to keep in your vehicle, right?

You also mention QR codes, which might be an OK addition, but the reality is plate readers can read plates, and people can't read QR codes, so if you need to take down a pale for whatever reason, you'd also need a phone, and close enoguh to scan it. Not always possible.

That's how you can tell that none of the UCP crew have a stake in license plate manufacturing operations.

I can always count on you to poke holes in my grand not well thought out schemes. I actually just went to the registry, I'm good for a year.

I can track my vehicle on the Ford app, how much air in the tires, gas in the tank, where I left it, I just want license plate as easy. Coming up for expiry, boop, apple pay. Or just pay until I sell it or until I die and not have to consider this pointless make work thing.

Just tell me what I owe you and stop wasting my time farting around with this stuff.

$1000 lifetime registration? Done. $1000 lifetime drivers license, done. Whatever the price. Is it to keep seniors busy with nothing to do with menial tasks.

What about the convenience fee of paying online haha .

The Canadian national anthem should seek a restraining order.

That plastic license plate frame the dealer puts on, that I took off once I got home? Yeah thatd be going back on, itll cover their slogan nicely.
Id rather advertise for a car dealership than busboobs and her clowns.

Make some custom ones that say "Wild Rose Country".
