Homeowners suing the province for lost equity next? This will be a huge mess.
Nobody knows what the long term effect is going to be, but I'd suggest during the uncertainty period the government has standing offer to buy at pre-market value so no one is stuck unable to sell a home they had no idea was subject to this. Is that a dumb idea? I don't think there are that many homes in the area being addressed.

I can't even guess how much money that would be. Hundreds of millions of dollars? And which government, the provincial government? Good luck with that.

Looking at the map, it's actually very few homes, more farm land.

Though there are some giants here that wouldn't be cheap if the owner decided to take the offer.

But the idea would be they would still have all or most of their value after everything is sorted. It's the uncertainty that is the issue, and that they are now pretty much locked into their homes until it is sorted.

And completely off topic, but it looks to also include a Tesla storage yard. I wonder if these are the ones that ate up all the EV rebates when they sold them to themselves?

That area includes the South Fraser marine terminal, Country Meadows golf course, and the entire Silver City riverport complex, including the hotels, rinks and movie theatres... More federal land than I thought, though.

Ya, and I was only referring to individual home owners, not all the industrial and commercial stuff. And it's not like everyone would take the offer, so I think it would be manageable.

After Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre blasted RCMP leadership on a podcast, some party members are questioning whether they will continue supporting him.

Five Conservative caucus members who spoke to Radio-Canada said Poilievre has not changed his message enough since the last election campaign and is not projecting an image befitting a prime minister.

That is terrible news for Carney if the Pest is outted. The Libs would have an easy majority next election.
