But that's my point. There aren't these supposed thin skinned people. The only time I ever hear about someone being offended by being wished a Merry Christmas, is someone telling me how no one is going to stop them from saying Merry Christmas even if it offends "someone". Who is that fake someone?
Say Merry Christmas, say Happy Holidays. Do whatever you'd like. No one will take offense either way.

I find that Christmas is kind of a state of mind, like old age. You either try to experience the best that it has to offer or get caught up in the worst.

When will the war on Christmas end? Every year it's another advance of the anti Christmas front. There are endless examples of the anti Christian stance that's so prevalent in North America these days. I heard that some people are being shot in the head by retail workers for saying merry Christmas instead of happy holidays. Just a straight headshot boom dead because you didn't bow to the woke agenda and then they compost your body with the other organic matter instead of a proper Christian burial. DEI has ruined the Christmas season.
In unrelated news none of my family speak to me anymore. My children won't return my phone calls. It's probably unrelated.

I expect people’s attitudes towards Christmas depend on whether they have happy memories of Christmas as a child, and if they like social gatherings. I’m a thumbs-up on both counts, so I enjoy the holiday season. Forced company events or awkward extended family moments don’t tip the scales against the stuff I do enjoy (music, food, friends, kids, time off).
If you don’t like the Christmas traditions you have to endure for the sake of others, then make your own. Order Thai food and watch Die Hard. Have a marathon online gaming session with buddies on Boxing Day. Get stoned and watch the Lords of the Rings Trilogy. Read a book. Meet a friend at a cozy pub. Whatever. You have time off (probably), social license to indulge yourself, and it’s winter so you don’t have to get off your ass and do anything besides shovel the walk now and then. Make of it what you want.

I enjoy Christmas because I get time off to relax. I am lucky that I only have 2 obligations. I used to be 'married' into a family that had 4-5 full days of obligations. no time to relax.

The beauty of being an adult is not doing things you don’t want to do. Even if you are married.

We started a tradition of Mexican food for Boxing Day a few years back. Super excited for this year, as we found a great company that does frozen dinner packs, with 3 different type of taco meat, all the fixings etc. and its soooo good.

Not nearly enough attention or credit has been given in this thread to Cliff busting out the word “bacchanalia”.

Dionysia has always been my preference, though a grade 8 paper I had to write on a Greek God may have some influence on that.

Absolutely it's a bacchanalia. That was the exact word I was going to use to describe Christmas, you beat me to it.

The pagan winter solstice, known as Yule, is a celebration that marks the longest night of the year, typically occurring around December 21-22 in the Northern Hemisphere. It symbolizes the rebirth of the sun and the return of longer days, often celebrated with rituals, feasting, and various traditions like the burning of a Yule log.

III. DIONYSUS BRINGER OF LOVE
‘I bring love to give you solace
In the darkness of the night
In the Heart’s eternal light
You need only trust your feelings
Only Love can steer you right’
‘I bring laughter, I bring Music,
I bring joy and I bring Tears
I will soothe your primal fears
Throw off those chains of Reason
And your prison disappears’
