Speak for yourself. I'm just contemplating if I should actually work or play Helldivers 2

Last thing they need is Markstrom getting frustrated and in the summer saying "I'll only waive for X team" and then you limit your own return.

That and the team is likely going to play a lot worse defensively after the deadline, so suddenly a top 5, surging Markstrom is "now struggling" in the eyes of the off season market.
Goalies are goalies and his team is about to get weaker, you must strike while the iron is hot on this one.

My idea is unrealistic but how can you accomplish a more fair playing field between markets? Both the NHLPA or the owners will object to many effective changes that the League can make. And you can't change weather, and other factors that come with location.
|
Your idea is as radical as mine. I say split the HRR by country. All the money made by Canadian teams stays in Canada and boosts the salary cap up here and the money made by American teams can stay down there and reduce their salary cap accordingly. I’m sick and tired of players sh@tying on our country but have no problem sticking their hand out and taking out money. And I’m not necessarily begrudging an American player for wanting to go “home” but all the other nationalities and Canadian players too thumb their nose up at us.
Either that or they need to regionally adjust the salary cap state/province by province to equal out the tax differentials.

We're doing all this because Tarasenko is getting sent to the Panthers?

I just don’t see the point of firing Ruff the week of the deadline, hiring Markstrom’s old coach, and then not trading for Markstrom.

There is a lot of justification for them to trade for Markstrom - it could be that Fitzgerald is just playing a game of chicken with Conroy to lower the price.

The fact that players who go through slumps have all kinds of disparaging things said about them is all the more reason to move to Florida.
|
This plus where they're at as it relates to past earnings and family. Non-established players want opportunity and salary, established players want to win (if haven't already) and are more likely to make decisions based on on family. Of course this is all subjective, there are always variances.

Now that the Panthers have added Tarasenko I wonder if they would be willing to move Luostarinen.
Luostarinen
2026 1st
Samoskevich
for
Hanifin (50% retetained - re-signed for 8 x $7M)
Duehr
2026 3rd (Vancouver)
Something like that feels like fair value. They get Hanifin, they get Duehr who provides cheap depth for this year and next, and we send a pick back to help balance out the assets.

Imagine how long the conditions on that 2026 1st would be.

To try to get that 2026 1st and Samoskevich who is also a recent 1st. Luostarinen is good too.
