Supposed to be at 50, lots are getting the vaccine in their 40s.
They recommend earlier than 50 if you've had shingles, since unlike a lot of other viruses where getting it builds immunity, once you've had shingles or chickenpox it can keep coming back. I know a surprisingly large number of people who had shingles in their 40s or even earlier so not surprised some are getting the vaccine earlier.
The shingles vaccine wasn't too bad for me, just a sore arm, but sounds like maybe I got off easy compared to some of the others posting here.

Got home and realized I already owned the exact same size of garbage bin in a different finish. Same size, same shape, same problem. Crap. Whatever... I kept the receipt, I'll return it.
I use the bag to bring the bin back the next day. Then I notice the bag still has the tag on it. It's in new, resaleable condition, which means… returnable. At least, as far as anyone has told me. I grab a better garbage bin and go to the cashier.
Me: "Hi, I'm returning this garbage bin and this bag, and buying this garbage bin."
Cashier: "We don't do returns on the bags."
Me: "Oh. That's not written anywhere; not on the tag, the receipt, or the bag display. My receipt says I can return anything I bought until January 8th."
Cashier: "Right, but our policy is we don't accept returns on the bags."
A policy? Now I'm locked in. I wanted my two dollars back; not because I needed it, but because -- at this point -- the alternative was owning a useless 'reusable' bag out of spite.
Me: "Well, if it's a policy, it should be written down, and I can't agree to your policy if it's not written down anywhere."
-- long pause --
Cashier: "We're just not supposed to take them back, but I'll do it this time."
I left with a new garbage bin and the correct amount of garbage in my life.

One thing to watch out for measles is depending on your age, you may have only gotten a single dose. Before the mid-90s, it was just a single dose. They did have a catch up thing for kids in school to get their 2nd dose around that time, but it didn't get everyone.
A single dose is still quite effective (about 85-95%), but 2 doses is basically 100% protection. The distinction didn't really matter when measles wasn't circulating, but that's no longer the case.
"Thanks, Merry Christmas to you too....but do you celebrate Christmas? "
####ing hate that question. What makes you ask that other than me being a POC? It's so thinly veiled racism that I don't even think the person realizes. I guess they mean well and it just comes across terribly?
I don't need to be a devout Jesus lover to celebrate Christmas, Allah dammit!

What are you? The Cryptkeeper? Did Granny not survive the Oregon Trail?
Remember a few years ago when half the NHL suddenly got the mumps?
IIRC the Pens were in Calgary and they interviewed Crosby before the game and asked if he was going to play and he said he was feeling fine, but half his face was super swollen, and he ultimately didn't play.
Of course, there are a number of other things that could cause the kind of swelling seen on Crosby's face. A root canal, removal of a wisdom tooth (just the one) or an overly ambitious helping of Big League Chew could technically be culprits.

I actually did not remember that, so thanks, thats interesting.
Like I was saying though, I dont have anything against vaccines, I get them regularly, but it just seems like theres so many of them now, and as someone who usually experiences side effects of vaccines I generally have to book time to recover and its starting to become a lot.
Then again, the flip-side of that coin is actually contracting the illnesses and even more time is lost.
