Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, children of all ages! Its that time again! Season finale of TWD: Dead City!!
And...there is a lot there. So...here...we...go!
Spoiler!
So. It was a lot of fun, it was also rather cheesy and it also ends almost exactly as you'd expect it to.
Negan vs. Basically everyone, Herschel being an easily manipulated brat by the vexing 'Dama' character. She is one that I find incredibly difficult. Why do people do anything she says? Where is the source of her power and influence? I'd have told her to pound sand or, in TWD world...just straight stabbed her. Problem. Solved.
So, Negan gets to Negan and kick some ass, thats the high point, he also suffers some loss so its not just him and Lucille going around cracking heads (although there is some of that)
Maggie continues to be annoying with her persistent flip-flopping.
Who the hell knows about that Sheriff dude. Why is he even there?
Anyways, I enjoyed it overall, it was a bit of a fun ride and, lets be honest, who cant enjoy it when you let Negan and Lucille do their thing? Thats awesome! But once more unto the breach, the TWD world has accomplished nothing and gained no ground! Lets see what happens.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Despite how bad the show is, I wonder if Andrew Lincoln made the right decision to split. He hasn’t been in anything since, not like Steven Yuen or Michael Rooker.

Yes, that may have been an unwise decision, but it also may have been based on incomplete information. I recall that they wanted him to make a series of movies and those dont seem to have panned out.
I know there were also family considerations, his family live in London and he was shooting in Georgia so lots of time away.
That being said, look at Lauren Cohan. She bailed TWD for her own show which very quickly crashed and burned and they just wrote her back in. You'd think they could have done the same for Lincoln/Rick. So there might be more to it?
I dont know. I've often believed that for most actors, if you're marginal, and you can get onto a show that lasts and lasts...thats steady work! And steady work tends to come with steady paycheques.

I'm always reminded of an interview with Robert Beltran, he played Chakotay on Star Trek: Voyager.
It was a short two-part interview years apart.
In the first one he lamented his time on STV, he felt his character was under-developed, under-used and not given enough priority and all of that other actor BS nonsense.
Then in the later interview his opinion was totally different. He was grateful for STV because the work paid for his house, his car, his kids' educations, etc.
Sometimes we dont all like our jobs, they come with costs and shortfalls, but they pay the bills.
I dont know about Cohan, but maybe Lincoln didn't need the money? I dont know what his circumstances are. But if he wanted to be working on TWD right now? I think he would be. If he wants to do nothing? Well...thats his decision.
And hey! Its not that bad of a show! It has it's warts but I've seen worse. Negan is still one of the coolest characters in recent memory.
