The patch was released today in lead-up to Rise of Iron's release. Weapon tweaks as well as several other UI changes and whatnot are included. I had a pair of boots decrypt at 338 already, but it sounds like the engrams and a bunch of other stuff is sort of in a state of chaos right now (lots of people getting greens at 180, etc.). Some people have also received the "Trespasser" exotic sidearm from engrams already. The new title screen and music are epic!
On the negative side (and this is an enormous negative), they've seemingly slapped a visual film grain effect onto the screen for all phases of gameplay, and there's currently no option to disable it. Folks are harping about it en masse, so hopefully it either wasn't intentional, or they provide the option.
As an aside, I randomly came up against Nhamlet's (Anduril's?) team the other night in a game of skirmish. It did not end so well for my team.

Nice! I've been saving up legendary and exotic engrams for the last month.

Seems like it's only boots that are decrypting at max 339. Had a friend pretty much clean out his vault thinking they would all decrypt higher. Also had 10 special engrams and none came to be the trespasser. He was pretty bummed
Haha, yeah, just read some of the bungie forum posts.
I'll just save them for another 1.5 weeks.

Bungie confirmed that the trespasser is deliberate. The boots I'm pretty sure are too but nothing confirmed. Still don't think engrams are going to carry over once RoI drops on the 20th and all the gear changes. Think this was more a ploy to get people back playing, and for some, inadvertently cleaning out their vaults.
Found this video interesting... More PvP centric, but something that seriously needs to be addressed as it affects both the casual and hardcore players.
Played for the first time post-patch and noticed a few things:
-Green engrams in the low 200s were popping out like crazy. I think this means the game "thinks" we are not level 40 anymore. This is probably just in preparation for Rise of Iron, but I'm pretty sure the game is playing like we are level 39. I didn't notice a huge difference, but in some solo activities I did feel a bit squishy
-Weapon balancing seemed to work well. There is good variety in the crucible and I am no longer getting domed by a sniper after putting in two to three shots on them first. I even noticed that running a sidearm was a viable option, and actually really enjoyed myself in Mayhem pretty much running sidearm only
Still - I'm just biding my time until Rise of Iron comes out. I'll admit I'm caught up a bit in the hype and very excited to run another blind raid.

They nerfed shoulder charge Basically I don't think I can shoulder charge sharply around corners anymore, which was a trademark for how I played striker. They also nerfed titan skating a bit, but I haven't noticed a major difference there. But basically they took the two most meaningful ways to keep a titan mobile and nerfed them both. I was never great at PvP with my titan, but shoulder charge sure was fun. Less so now :\
Wanted to say to everyone and introduce myself! GT: IamCanadian403, day one Destiny player with over 2047 hours played (according to wastedondestiny). Feel free to add me up, be nice to game with some other CP'ers. I'm mostly PvP nowadays but will dive head first into the PvE again with Rise of Iron.

Man, I still play a lot, and have since day one, but I only have 846 hours.

I finally finished up the vanguard questline to get my conspiracy theory-d perfect roll.
It absolutely wrecks. As a sniper, I really don't have much time for shotguns....but that beauty could change my mind a bit.

So most of the people I used to raid with have left Destiny and are maybe not coming back for Rise of Iron. One of my best memories was running Kings Fall with them blind (we got all the way to Golgy but couldn't beat him the first run).
Anyone here interested in setting up a blind raid? I was thinking we could run it Sunday, Sept 25. Should be fairly easy to stay in the dark about the raid up until that time, and that gives us a little time to level up. To be clear, I'm not expecting us to be able to clear the raid a few days after it comes out, but just exploring it blind was a ton of fun and light level requirements for the early parts are likely lower than the final battle (assuming it is similar to KF).
Let me know if anyone is interested and I can try to schedule a time for everyone.
EDIT: Forgot to mention I am on PS4

I am up for this on Sunday but I have concerns about getting my light level high enough in time as I don't have much time to play until later in the week of release. I will be rocking my hunter. PS4 for me.

Yeah, I don't have a ton of time either, but will likely have 10 or so hours prior to Sunday. I'd think that is enough to at least be able to start the raid.

Ya that should get us enough gear. I am in for it.
will probably jump in on Friday when it releases, but will be happy to run on my alt on Sunday. (I promise to keep quiet too) but if you want a "blind raid" I fully understand
