Ortio DID credit all the playing time he got for HIFK and TPS with improving his game, BTW.

That's going to be a long list. He's got 30+ skaters on the roster right now. There is a contract signed and terminated nearly every other week at the AHL level.

Strong ECHL development helped Ortio. Lol, he faced 67 shots total down here in 4 games. We sure didn't do much to develop him.

5 of the 8 goalies we used had shutouts for a total of 10 on the season. With three games to go 14.5% of the games the other team has been left off the board.
The Calgary/Abbotsford affiliation has been strong for us. Guys coming down don't just skate out their time. They have had and met the expectation to immediately contribute not just on the scoreboard but most importantly giving up the body for team defense.

2013/14 General Heat Discussion Thread
We may have a new franchise single season point total leader by the end of the season. Kolanos holds the record at 61.
Quote:
@brandon_astle: Reinhart (57 pts) & Street (55 pts) are ranked #2 & #3 respectively for most single season points in #AHLHeat franchise history.

Still curious where Granlund would have ended up if left in Abby and healthy. Have to think he would have factored in.

The Soo Greyhounds have been eliminated from the OHL playoffs, and the Oilers have assigned Nurse to the Barons.
If he plays this weekend, I hope the Heat do a good job embarrassing him so he can get an early feel for what life in the NHL will be like.

I would think they are planning to play him as OKC reassigned another Defenceman this morning to the ECHL.
It's going to be fun watching the baby Flames beat up the baby Oilers. I believe we could also destroy their playoff chances. They need 9 points in the 5 remaining games to clinch one of the last spots. 2 losses would pretty much end any hope for them.
(sorry Roman...)

Some tidbits from this morning:
- Ortio on being named the league's top rookie goalie: "It means I'm doing something right." Then went on to say it wasn't his award, it's a team award.
- Sigalet said Klimchuk has been cleared to play this weekend.
- He also said G Doug Carr will get a start at some point. Carr's given him the confidence to give him a game. He said he plays a "big, boring game," which is good.

"Team award" = Joni being Joni.
High likelihood that Emile Poirier's in the Fraser Valley by the weekend, as well.
