How does this work unless a deal was agreed to and Conroy allowed Hanifin to negotiate with Tampa?

It's an old, traditional English surname. Occupational name for a Weetabix trader. He's the guy who tells you how much it costs… per bix.

Wouldn't we need to take on salary so that TB can sign Hanifin long term? All the pure prospect plays don't work as well for tampa. Perbix only makes a milly.

What's wrong with Howard? Kid looks like he could be a stud, good motor and good shot. Has lots of confidence too, seems to have a higher upside.

Hanifin was likely allowed to negotiate with multiple teams. Especially if there’s any need for a sign and trade.

Guess we'll have to take Point. Will be difficult, but we'll just have to do it I guess.
I'd imagine we're retaining half of Hanifin down to $2.5M.

You really shouldn't trade for one without making sure you get the other at the same time.

I think the bias right now is towards a solid top 6 center, since we seem to have a handful of all offense no defense type wingers on the books.

What about Perbix has you convinced he’s a solid aspect of a trade for an extended Hanifin? Honest question.
His games regressed, he’s struggled this year and his foot speed is pretty poor.
He’s 25+ already and this is his only NHL season.
Would he fit for a low acquisition cost? Sure.. maybe?
But to be a key part of a trade for Hanifin seems like bad asset management.
He’s better than Oesterle… that’s about it.

They have the LTIR room to absorb him at full cost today. It's not this season that is the worry. Hanifin presumably wants 6.5-7 long term? Don't see how Tampa stomachs that easily. They have a raise coming for Hagel, need to fill out at least 3 roster spots with forwards, maybe one more defenseman, and will also need to re-sign Stamkos.

I'd prefer Max Crozier over Perbix. Two years younger, also right-handed, feisty. Bolts fans seem to have really liked him during his call-ups.

If the cap is set at 87.5 ish as rumored, Tampa would have about 10.5 million to sign Hanifin, re-sign Stamkos, and get 3 warm bodies to fill out the roster at league min.
League minimum is $775k, x 3 = 2.3 mill
Leaving ~8.2 for stammer and Hanifin. It's not impossible but it will be difficult. Stamkos is definitely going to be taking a hair cut at that.
