As long as Tampa is including a first round pick, I’ll be pretty happy with the trade I think. Just really want to see that first included. I know it has to be a first that’s a couple seasons away… that’s fine.

I'm not really interested in Howard. I'm hoping it's something like 2026 1st (unprotected), 2025 2nd, Gauthier and Perbix for Hanifin (extended).

That’s fine. Ideally it will only have lottery protection but I would expect it to have top ten protection. It sounds like the market for Hanifin is pretty limited so Conroy might have to work with what he’s got.

Really doubt any first round pick that far out would have no protection. Would be awesome if it was unprotected as I think Tampa could be on its last breath as a cup contender so they could be on their way down the standings over the next few seasons.

If they trade Hanifin for a futures package like that, Markstrom surely has to be out the door.

That might knock us down and into the Iggy range, and have assets to jump right back into the first with the Vancouver 1st and Dallas 2nd to grab something else.

It would be hilarious if the 2026 1st was protected, rolled over to a 2027 1st, and that pick turned out to be a lottery winner. That's an extra year for the Lightning to age out and go into a rebuild of their own.

I'm fine with the 1st being in 2026 ... if anything, it doesn't hurt to spread out the picks a bit. Howard being another winger is more of an issue to me, I really hope(d) we could get back a decent center prospect for Hanifin. But hey, can always stockpile centers in the 2024 draft.
