Same with the Vikings, possibly.

I can't see any players from either Conference Championship game playing in the Probowl. One week after what will be pretty crushing losses and a hard fought game, I see a lot of guys pulling out due to injury. So take out the Saints, Vikings, and Colts players.

I can see that happening as well, which is total BS. These players don't want to play in the game for a number of reasons. But at contract time, you can bet that their agent will be using the Pro Bowl selection as a bargaining chip.

The concept of having the Pro Bowl is dumb just for the logistics that the super bowl teams are likely to have a few starters for the pro bowl in and they won't even be able to play. Then factor in players just losing in the conference finals, and you have a good number of all-star players not bothering playing in the event.
Should've just kept it the way it was if you want to keep it at all.

Food for thought: If the Vikings run the table and the Saints lose one of their final five, they'll both finish 15-1. In that instance, the Vikings would win the tiebreaker on conference record -- a perfect 12-0 for Minnesota vs. 11-1 for New Orleans.

Someone PLEASE just beat them in one game?

From a player perspective it is dumb. But I think the NFL wanted to make things more festive during Super Bowl week. They know that many great players on the Super Bowl teams will not be attendance. But they want to market the league and generate revenue. Having the Pro Bowl in Hawaii after the season doesn't really bring a lot of interest. I'm a huge NFL fan and I havent bothered watching the Pro Bowl in years. (allthough that could have more to do with not being a bachelor anymore).

Jamal Lewis wasn't at practice and the Browns won't say why, and Shaun Rogers put in the IR. The Browns continue to go to the dogs.

I don't know if it would work or not as I can't remember when the deadline is for underclassmen to declare themselves eligible for the NFL draft but maybe something like a Prospects game could be held intsead of the Probowl? I know they already have the Senior bowl, but I think the NCAA uses that to generate a few dollars. The obvious flaw would be NCAA scholarship eligibility though and I'm not sure how that would impact players who still have classes to finish out for the winter semester.

The argument that the players who lose in the Championship games will not want to play in the Pro Bowl is a bit weak. Allthough I can see many of them using that very excuse. Is it easier to play in the Pro Bowl a week after losing the Super Bowl?

I still don't get why they even play it at all. I think they should take a page from the CFL and simply just name people to the Pro Bowl rosters and leave it at that.
Easily the worst of all the All-Star games, you can't play football half-assed like they do in hockey and basketball ASG's and still keep it exciting.

I refuse to watch the Pro Bowl after the 2006 game.
Brees got injured by an overzealous Terrell Suggs, I cried like a schoolgirl...

Colts basically stated today that after it clinches the #1 seed in the AFC (would happen if they can win the next two games to go 13-0) that a large portion of the starters would sit out the last 3 games.

What a well thought out strategy. That has worked so well for them in the past.

The Colts have been one of the most injury riddled teams all year so I have no problem if they let a good chunk of the defence rest. That being said, I have to think Caldwell is smarter then not having his team play a full game for over 4 weeks if they do in fact clinch in the following weeks.

Yes! Ruskell is going to resign today as GM of the Seahawks, happy days! I've been watching them struggle all year and it's been so depressing, will be out at the game on Sunday maybe this will light a fire under the players asses. Actually I should clarify it's a rumour till it happens, there's supposed to be a press conference at 10am pacific, but I will now be devastated if it doesn't happen.
It's been confirmed, Ruston Webster will be the interim GM.
