Well that helps my dream of 3 NFC teams with 8 wins making the playoffs be one step closer to coming true.

Of the Bills and Vikings, which do you think is undeserving to be 6-6? Both have lost some very close games, both on bye this upcoming week, and both really had a chance to be 7-5.

Undeserving? I think both teams have earned those records. Buffalo is a much better team of the two especially with Cousins and Jefferson both out. Minnesota has an easier path to the playoffs, but I don't think they'll do much if they make it. I think Buffalo still has a shot since 9-8 is still in play for a AFC Wild Card spot. Buffalo would still be dangerous if they could get in.

It'll be sad if Buffalo doesn't make it, they are by far the most interesting and fun of the 6-6 or less crew. But yeah those NFC playoffs look so grim, feels like the NFL should do the right thing and have a four team Page playoff with NFC East Winner-49ers and Lions-NFC East loser. Let the other "playoff" teams play for an extra 3rd rounder or some ####.

A lot can change over the next five games so once the season is over things will be more clear. If the Raiders show well the rest of the season I would be okay with him keeping the job but they would have to hire a quality OC to oversee the offense as Hardegree has never been an OC and it's starting to show in the past few games and I think all ties to the McDaniels offense need to be severed in the offseason.
Mark Davis is always a wild card so he may opt for the flashy hire. If it were up to me I would interview and give a hard look to Ben Johnson and Mike Macdonald. It's always hard to tell if a hot coordinator will work out as a head coach but these two seem like they have been extremely positive influences on their team's recent successes.

The fact that he benched and then subsequently released Marcus Peters tells me that Pierce understands players. I watched Peters let guys run 20 yards down the field as he made the "Business Decision" to not tackle a guy for two years. If you need a pick 6 on a high risk play to change momentum Peters can do that. As an every down guy...major liability.
Obviously I don't want to see the Raiders do too well. But for some reason I like what Pierce is doing for their culture. If the Raiders don't keep him on, hopefully he can keep building his career elsewhere.
Ben Johnson might be a good choice too. You have a guy in Crosby that you can build a defence with. Beef up the line and you might be able to get a punishing offence to compliment it.

Building a culture is important, especially when it comes to defense, but if it comes at the expense of leaving points/wins on the board due to poor in-game management, strategy, etc., it's best to leave those types of guys in coordinator roles.
A good example is McDermott in Buffalo. The dude seems to be a good coach and has built a good culture in Buffalo, but he definitely costs his team games. The Bills probably beat the Eagles on Sunday if McDermott manages his timeouts at the end of the game better and at least tries to go for the win in regulation.

McDermott reminds me of Dungy at Tampa, did a great job building something that could win it, but just didn't have the ability to get them over the line. They are actually the perfect team to go after Harbaugh, his act wears thin in 2-3 years but he could win them a Super Bowl in that timeframe.

I don't disagree about the being able to finish comment. But I also think Dungy was really crucial to turning around what wad a moribund franchise in Tampa. Between 85 and 94 I think I saw the Bucs on TV one time when Joe Montana made his Chiefs debut against them. Outside of that they were the team that drafted Vinny Testaverde, pissed off Bo Jackson and played in the annual toilet bowl. So I think grtting a culture change there was critical.
Similar with Buffalo who had been a loser for 15 years, they needed to fix the culture.
I'd say the Raiders are a team who needs to recapture their identity. Not sure if Pierce is the right guy because going from LB coach to Head Coach is a huge leap. It's not often a guy goes from that role to HC without some time as a coordinator.

Loved everything Dungy did, but by the time they fired him it was clear they were past their ceiling with him. In an alternate world either Shaun King doesn't suck, or the Bert Emmanuel rule exists before Bert Emmanuel gets that catch taken away and they beat the Rams and win the Super Bowl then, and Dungy does it. But like 13 seconds was the Bills peak under McDermott, that NFC Championship Game was the Bucs peak under Dungy. McDermott will be in high demand when he gets let go. If they do it this year the return to Carolina would seem obvious, except Tepper sucks and McDermott will likely have his choice of jobs (Chargers being the prime landing spot).
Raiders problem of course is they don't have a QB, and to get one they'll need to embrace a full rebuild. Considering they should have probably done so for years I'm skeptical Bowl Cut will accept that, even though he should. If selling those tickets is his concern visiting fans take over the stadium almost every game, so he shouldn't really worry about that. Maybe one day a Raiders home game can be full of, you know, actual Raider fans.

I was curious and looked at the rest of the Bears schedule and it is NOT a difficult schedule at all. The two best teams left on it are the Chargers and Lions. That’s nuts. If they don’t win four or five games they absolutely should ditch Fields and start over.
(For the record - Packers, Vikings, Lions, Commies, Raiders, Chargers, Saints, Panthers, Browns, Cardinals, Falcons).

Bears are 4-8!

The Panthers still having a mathematical shot at the NFC is what kind of stops me in my tracks.
But what the hell I hope the Bears go 4-1 and are one of like 5 teams with a 8-9 record and in an absurd tie breaker.

Jets opened up the practice window for Rodgers.
Cam Akers tore his is in July and returned in January.
Makes me think they are not being truthful and it may not be a full rupture.

Suffice to say if Flacco can PI the Browns to that elusive Super Bowl, the GOAT debate is permanently over.

Joe Flacco is a son of a bitch and I hope the entire Browns organisation continues to fail after signing him. They are forever unclean and deserve every bad thing that happens to them

Did I miss some Flacco controversy where he did something bad other than being one of the worst quarterbacks to ever win a Super Bowl?

TMZ Sports has learned an arrest warrant has been issued for NFL superstar Von Miller ... after he allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman.
According to a spokesperson for the Dallas Police Department ... the warrant stems from an incident involving Miller and a woman on Nov. 29 at around 11 AM.
Cops say they responded to a Dallas-area residence over "a major disturbance call" ... and officers were told there was "a verbal argument" between Miller and a woman that turned physical.
Cops say Miller left the scene before officers arrived -- and the woman "was treated for minor injuries," but was not taken to the hospital.

Wow, he had some problems early in his career, but from afar had looked to clean some of that up. I guess we find out what beholds his fate now. He's not young and is still coming back from a major injury. So he may not get the Kareem Hunt treatment...but he's been a post season performer before and a lot of eyes can look the other way when there's a Lombardi trophy to distract you.
If hockey was more interesting TMZ might be able to tell us exactly what Corey Perry did.
