pfft. I bet he hired an illegal to do it, then deported them so he didn't have to pay them.

Lol, the best paragraph summary of recent events I've seen.
Let me do my very best to restate in a fair and accurate way the official White House explanation as to why the FBI director was just abruptly fired: “I, Donald Trump, decided to fire James Comey because of things he did that helped me win the presidential election.” Am I missing anything there? This is the explanation that is, presumably, to be delivered by administration functionaries with a straight face in the coming weeks? “I fired him not because he is investigating me, but because of a thing he did that I praised at the time he did it, and which benefited me greatly. I also have a long track record of basing my opinion of people solely on how much they benefit me. You are not expected to notice or comment on this discrepancy.”
When the world notices and comments on the discrepancy, the President of the United States starts tossing out wholly unrelated insults at political opponents.
Christians face the greatest hostility and hatred out of any religion across the world. According to Pence who was speaking at the World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians.
If anyone is watching the investigation right now. Lol at the praise for Trump not starting WW3 in his first 100 days. Setting the bar real high there.
McCabe says FBI firmly supported Comey and the agency had full confidence in his leadership at all times.
WTF is with the GOP praising Trump as a "Veracious consumer of information". You mean watches Fox news and Info wars all day??
Incidentally, Rosenstein is probably the one in the administration that has the most power to bring down Trump. He can be the one that appoints a special independent of the White House and the DOJ to run the investigation. NYT editors are calling for this and if Trump pisses Rosenstein off enough, I suspect we'll see something happening.
This is the same mistake people were making re: Comey. "Better not piss off the deep state, better not piss off the powerful people in the FBI, they'll get you". Trump can fire all of these people. If Rosenstein decides Trump has pissed him off and tries to go rogue, and appoint a special prosecutor without being directed to by Sessions or the President, how long do you think it'll take before he's out the door, too?

Newsworthy in itself is just how bad the leaks are getting. It's like it's beyond factions trying to undermine each other, hopefully good people honestly see this as a way to fight back against an at best dangerously incompetent administration.
WaPo had a story from 30 sources. 30! Given that Trump's ignoring the hundreds of jobs he's supposed to fill, that's like his entire staff isn't it?!
But the private accounts of more than 30 officials at the White House, the Justice Department, the FBI and on Capitol Hill, as well as Trump confidants and other senior Republicans, paint a conflicting narrative centered on the president’s brewing personal animus toward Comey. Many of those interviewed spoke on the condition of anonymity in order to candidly discuss internal deliberations.
A few podcasts discussing it think the leaks are going to increase, Comey was very popular in the FBI and if Trump tries to appoint a political sycophant...

I don't think anyone will defend him if he fires another DOJ official or investigator unless we are looking at a coup happening.
In the meantime, Trump is reported considering Mike Rogers, a former member of Trump's campaign and transition team, as the new head of the FBI.
Quote:
President Donald Trump is considering Mike Rogers, a former Republican congressman and FBI agent from Michigan, among candidates to replace James Comey as FBI director, a White House official said.
Rogers, 53, a former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, retired from Congress in 2015 after seven terms to pursue a career in talk radio. He advised the Trump presidential transition team on national security issues but was asked to leave at about the same time New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was removed as head of the transition.
Trump fired Comey on Tuesday after what White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders described as months of rising frustration with the FBI director, dating back to Trump’s election. Comey was leading the FBI investigation of potential collusion between Trump campaign officials and Russian government officials who sought to manipulate the outcome of the U.S. presidential election. Comey also publicly dismissed Trump’s claim that former President Barack Obama spied on him.
The firing has plunged the Trump White House into another political crisis, as Democrats have roundly castigated the decision and some Republicans have expressed unease.
I don't think anyone will defend him if he fires another DOJ official or investigator unless we are looking at a coup happening.
I think you vastly overestimate the integrity of the GOP. If there's a leg to stand on - and "the deputy AG went rogue and took on the Oval and there's a chain of command that must be respected" qualifies as a leg to stand on - they'll find a way to support him. I just can't see Trump, or Sessions, allowing it to happen. And before you say "but Sessions recused himself from investigations pertaining to Russian ties", Sessions was just integrally involved in the process undertaken to fire the guy leading an investigation into the Trump campaign's Russia ties.
Congress can pass a law to kick start such an investigation, but it's obvious that they won't, and if they did, you'd think Trump would veto it. A scenario where they have the votes to override seems like a fantasy right now... but maybe things will be so bad by 2018 that self-interested Republican congressmen will have abandoned the sinking ship. As always, one can dream.

Trump is furious at being trolled by the Russians. Apparently he had kept all US press out but allowed Russian state news agency reporters to film and take pictures, of his hasty post-Comey firing meeting with the Russian ambassador, on the condition pictures would not be used.
Russia released them on State TV afterwards while at the same time their ambassador openly mocked the US over the Comey firings. What outcome did the Idiot in Chief expect? Further signs that Trump has been abandoned by his Russian overlords?

The White House did not anticipate that the Russian government would allow its state news agency to post photographs of an Oval Office meeting between President Donald Trump, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russia's ambassador to the US, a White House official said.
Photos of Wednesday's meeting, taken by a Russian state news media photographer one day after Trump fired FBI Director James Comey amid questions about possible Trump campaign collusion with Moscow, were ultimately posted by Russia's news agency, TASS.
The White House did not post photos of the meeting although an official White House photographer was also in the room, the White House said. The State Department did post photos of Lavrov's meeting with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, but that was open to the press.
"They tricked us," an angry White House official said.
"That's the problem with the Russians -- they lie," the official added.
The Russians used the photos to troll the White House in its social media posts Wednesday. The Russian Foreign Ministry posted a photo of a smiling US President shaking hands with Lavrov on Twitter, adding strange and ironic optics to the questions already swirling around the White House over Comey's firing.
You know the catapult is quite important. So I said what is this? Sir, this is our digital catapult system. He said well, we’re going to this because we wanted to keep up with modern [technology]. I said you don’t use steam anymore for catapult? No sir. I said, “Ah, how is it working?” “Sir, not good. Not good. Doesn’t have the power.
You know the steam is just brutal. You see that sucker going and steam’s going all over the place, there’s planes thrown in the air.” It sounded bad to me. Digital. They have digital. What is digital? And it’s very complicated, you have to be Albert Einstein to figure it out. And I said–and now they want to buy more aircraft carriers. I said what system are you going to be–”Sir, we’re staying with digital.”
I said no you’re not. You going to goddamned steam, the digital costs hundreds of millions of dollars more money and it’s no good.

Maybe I’m crazy though. So to find out, I asked Dr. Robert Farley, a specialist in military diffusion, maritime affairs, and national security at the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce at the University of Kentucky, and our resident carrier expert, if this was all nuts. And it turns out, maybe not.
“I can confirm that this is absolutely nuts,” he said. The whole idea of ripping out the launch system in the already-built Ford, and re-designing the following carriers (including the already-under construction USS Enterprise), would be “immensely expensive.”
At one point the man can be heard hollering "Donald Trump will stop you. Donald Trump will stop you!" Before storming away, video shows him grabbing his crotch and yelling something obscene at the family, in front of several children.
"You're a f****** Muslim, motherf*****." As another beachgoer tries to push the man away, he shouts, "You will never ever, ever, stop me, my Christianity, from rising above your Sharia law. Your Sharia law don't mean s*** to me."

I can't be the only one who hopes the Russians managed to plant a bug or two in the oval office while they were there. If it's going to be gong show, might as well take it up a few more notches.
