In hindsight this was a fairly immature thing for me to post. If the guy lost a job reference and felt pressured to remove his facebook page than I think the point has been made.

To me that is a blatant troll comment, as opposed to the guy who legitimately thought only places at sea level could flood.

It's a horrible job of trolling though, I hope enough people share that and make his life rather unpleasant for a little while.

Apparently he apologized later. Not the most graceful apology though.

And then he went on to post this:

Climate change will/has lead/led to increased storm and drought frequency and duration. We reap what we sow people, and its frustrating to hear these warnings be ignored.

Why is it that we trust nuclear scientists or oil engineers explicitly and without question, but we call bull#### on foresters, climatologists, hydrologists etc. when they warn us about this stuff? They are all just as educated, trained and knowledgeable in their fields but nobody listens because its inconvenient.

Also, the only time the environmental scientists get called out is when something goes wrong, not when a disaster or the like is averted or prevented. But everyone gets dick-hard over quick-and-dirty profit margins that hurt us in the long run.

Maybe a cost-benefit analysis of the revenue and fruits of oilfield development should be pitted against the cost of rebuilding Calgary.

^Wasn't aware of that. Wasn't excusing the guy in my earlier post either.

Often it isn't what you say, it's how and when you say it, and this guy screwed up in both of the latter two departments.

Do you think the dry roads visible in the pic (like 5th ave say around the Bow) are dry because the water receded, or dry because it never made it?

Yeah the best thing we can do for our friend Andy Greschner is to get him on the first page of the Google searches for his name, then he'll never find work again

Gross. I sure don't.

Also, Strathcona Park along Edmonton's river is now partially submerged, police blocking off pathways. I don't think they'll have anything major up there but, worth mentioning.

My personal opinion is dry because it stayed dry.

total royalties the Alberta government got last year? what was it 6 billion? That's just the royalties...a small small about of the total benefit which is probably hundreds of billions (conservative)

Yes, that Andy Greschner. The one whose name comes up in Google on page 2 of the search results already.
